Can you exfoliate on keratosis with sugar?

I have keratosis pilaris on my arms and I don't have an exfoliant right now so can I use sugar?

Btw keratosis is a skin condition that causes red bumps on the skin. Can you exfoliate on keratosis with sugar?
I've had it for years and I find that panoxyl is the only thing that really helps, ask your doctor about it.

As for sugar, that would probably not be smart because it will clog the pores on ur skin causing further irritation and more red bumps.

Do you have a loofa sponge of a pumice stone to rub on ur skin in the shower? That would be better.

  • Can you exfoliate with body wash, shower gel, or a bar of soap?

I am going to be putting on self tanner later and I have heard it is important to exfoliate before hand. Can you exfloliate w/ body wash, shower gel, or a bar of soap? Which one works best so the tanner does not streak? Can you exfoliate with body wash, shower gel, or a bar of soap?
i would say you need a body SCRUB i dont think a wash or gel would really help esp. a bar of soap since it does not remove dry skin. but make sure to shave before hand, so later when you shave you do not remove the self tan.Can you exfoliate with body wash, shower gel, or a bar of soap?
use a scrub, if you don't have one use sugar and olive oil to exfoliate

find a good body wash you like and add sugar lots of it and scrub hard its an amazing exfoliator and i use it when i need to unwind from my job as a chef all that grease and my skin had never looked better
Olive oil and sugar is good too
shower puffs are really good. Use it with shower gel and give your legs a good scrub. That should do it. And they are cheap
I like to use one from bath and body. It is like a sand scrub. It also gets rid of dead skin.
I used to buy sea salt scrub from boots, it was very very good but quite expensive, i now make my own with sea salt and olive oil. Much cheaper but just as effective!
    Give Domestis a miss
oats boiled in water should be applied on legs. left on for 5 minutes and then scrubbed after wetting hand in water. scrub in circular motion. should be in a paste like consistency
Use any, there's plenty to choose from in shops, they all do the same job and give the same results really whether their pricey or cheap
A cheap, natural and effective exfoliate (one my mother taught me):

    1. grind half a cup of rice (in one of those blender/grinding thingy machines)

    2. mix with youghurt and a tea spoon of honey (to make a paste)

    3. apply to face (paste drys quickly so apply quickly)

    4. scrub off (depending on how bad/good your skin is- scrub lightly or vigorously) leaves skin nice and purty!!

it works and its damn cheap!

    hope that helps ^_^

a body scrub or exfoliant - apply this to one leg and rub it in then apply to the other leg and rub it in (vigorously!) then remove with wet hot mitts - this is how we do it in the salon anyway!!!

Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?

I use the clinic 7 day scrub but when I ex foliate prior to applying my foundation I feel like my skin is greasy due the smoothness that the exfoliting does for me is this normal? Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?
You may want to exfoliate at night, a few times per week. It isn't necessary to exfoliate everyday. Besides any additional rubbing to the face will help to increase the productin of oil- so that is probably why you are getting that greasy feeling. If you are typically oily- apply a light moisturizer and perhaps a make-up base before foundation for a smooth application. Is it a good Idea to exfoliate my face before putting on my foundation?
Instead of using the 7day scrub, which is not only abrasive, but oily, why don't you just use their ';total turnaround'; cream.

I think it's over $30, but you use a tiny bit after you wash your face (I use neutrogena liquid facial soap and it works well).

Total turnaround is just a moisturizer that has some exfoliating properties. It works best for me to remove dead skin and makes my skin soft and not greasy.

    Worth the money...

The only thing I spend lots of $$ on is that cream, and some good lancome mascara, and clinique eyeshadow, liquid makeup, and blush.
if you have skin a bit on the oily side, and you exfoliate to often you actually produce more oil. Exfoliation for oily skin every other day or 3 days a week. more on skin see http://www.reverseyourskin.com
no because if you do the your poors will open the the foundation will get in your poor, clog them and you will get a lot of pimples

Whats the soonest i can exfoliate before waxing?

Is it bad to exfoliate and then wax an hour later? How long should i wait?Whats the soonest i can exfoliate before waxing?
My stylist told me to wait a week before and after waxing to exfoliate. Also, we're not supposed to use products with exfoliating properties ( aha's %26amp; such) . If you wax an hour after exfoliating you run the risk of picking up skin with the hair. Not only is this painful, but then you are supposed to wait a whole MONTH (yikes!) before waxing again. Omg, I can't imagine going an entire month between eyebrow waxes.

  • How often should you use a scrub on your face to exfoliate if you have combination skin?

I'd say you should only exfoliate once a week.

First, I work at a Spa so I know the importance of caring for skin. Because you have combination skin, it's important not to exfoliate too much and rid the skin of the natural oils that it needs but it is important to once a week get rid of dirt, oils, and dead skin cells in order to produce a cleaner and fresher face.

Stick with your facial cleansers twice a day and exfoliate once a week. How often should you use a scrub on your face to exfoliate if you have combination skin?
Suggestion, you may not want to exfoliate too often because you may strip your skin of too much of it's natural moisturizers. Maybe once a week to exfoliate. Use a good moisturizer(yes, even though you have combination skin)and use a good cleanser that is non drying along with being calming(maybe one with lavendar and or chamomile in it) This will purify the skin and give it the natural balance your skin may require to look radiant.

Is there any other way than face mask to exfoliate? If not, what are good masks for oily/spot prone skin?

hi i have exactly same skin as u and i use ''fab face food'' masks , they gently exfoiliate and they cleanse ure pores too u should try these :) Report Abuse
Is there any other way than face mask to exfoliate? If not, what are good masks for oily/spot prone skin?
Exfoliate (gently) everyday - or perhaps just once a week! Steam twice a week. Use a face mask twice a week.

    follow these steps:

    1 Cup Brown Sugar

    1/2 Cup Sweetened Almond Oil

1 tsp Vitamin E (I cut open a couple Vitamin E liquid gel caps)

    1/2-1 tsp Vanilla Extract

You can substitute the almond oil for pure sesame oil (not roasted). extra virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or any other oil you like that is suitable for the skin. I prefer almond oil due to the many benefits of almond oil on the skin.

In place of the vanilla extract you can use your favorite essential oil or fragrance oil. Or if you are in a pinch you can leave it out altogether as it's mainly included for added aroma.

The Vitamin E is also not a necessity but it adds some skin nourishment to the brown sugar scrub.

Steaming cleans the skin of all surface dirt, stimulates the circulation and unclogs blocked pores. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin.

Steaming can be taken by leaning over a large bowl of boiling water, by covering your head with a towel and making a tent around the bowl pores, loosen blackheads and bring spots to a head. To make steaming more beneficial, add a tablespoon of herbs to the water. Elderflower and chamomile are the old favorites for this. Steam your face for about ten to twenty minutes. By steaming blackheads come out of the pores and it becomes easy to extract them.

and for a very simple mask for oil/acne prone skin just use milk of magnesia (no flavors). Apply the Milk of Magnesia to face.

Wash with cool washcloth after 10-15 minutes.

i hope this works for you. has done wonders for me.

    :)
a homemade scrub will involve sugar and oil. Just a capful of vegetable oil and 2 teaspoons of sugar should be a good one for your face. someone said lemon, that would be nice to add. Stir it together scoop it up with your fingers and apply to your face in small circles with your fingertips. your fingers and the sugar will be doing the exfoliating, the oil is holding the sugar in place--don't worry about putting it on your face you will be washing it off. After 2 or 3 minutes, stop, wash your hands and rinse off your face. You could use a mild gel cleanser to wash off your face if you have oily skin--even handsoap from a dispenser is ok, not ideal, but ok. You will glow and look beautiful.
I have oily spot prone skin and ive tried every product you can see on the shelves of every boots and superdrug but the best product ive found by far is the Body Shop seaweed range. They do a face scrub thats exfoliating and they do a range of cleansers toners and moisturisers. Its slightly more expensive that most face products but id rather pay a few pounds more and know its right for my skin!
wash your face with mild soap and warm water and rinse off. Lightly spread olive oil, or other oil from the kitchen over your face. Dip your oily fingertips in white sugar and rub over face with gentle round movements and avoid the under eye area. Keep doing this for ten minutes and you may need to keep dipping your fingertips into the sugar. When done, wash your face twice in warm soap and water and rinse off. Pat dry with a soft clean towel. Then feel your skin, it will feel like soft velvet. This is a natural method and works. Do this once a week or twice a week, whatever you need.
A face mask doesn't really exfoliate. It draws out impurities and deep cleans. Use a face scrub. I use Origins range. It's a bit more expensive than high street stuff but I find it very effective and I'd rather pay a bit extra for something that works well. Having said that, Clean %26amp; Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub is pretty good too.

EDIT: You can make a very simple scrub with oatmeal and strawberries (strawberries have a natural acid that helps to dissolve dead cells). Just mush it all up, rub it on then rinse off.
Here is a home made face scrub.

This is a luxurious blend of almonds, oatmeal, milk and rose petals to cleanse the face leaving it silky soft. Mix 3 tbsp ground almonds, 3 tbsp medium oatmeal, 3 tbsp powdered milk and 2 tbsp powdered rose petals along with almond oil and combine thoroughly. Now store the mixture in a sealed glass jar and used when required.

    And here is another one.

Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoon of finely ground almond paste and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub gently on face for some time and rinse with warm water.

Here is a site with a lot of info on home made face scrubs that are real easy and convenient.

put some 'just boiled' water and some lavender water into bowl, get towel and put over head and bowl and let the steam open and unclog your pores. when water has cooled splash face with cold water to close pores then pat skin dry and apply moisturiser. keep hands away from face and drink plenty of liquids (not alcohol).
I use St Ives face scrub it's amazing, doesn't dry you skin out lots of different ones for all skin types and you can use it everywhere also its just like a face wash. it also makes you skin really smooth and radiant i love that stuff not the expensive aswell.
There are heaps of home made remedies for masks....I've probaby tried them all. But if you really want to exfoliate and get rid of all that dead skin. Buy some exfoliating gloves. I bought mine for about $3 and they do a way better job then all those masks.
St Ives Apricot Scrub is a great exfoliator for the face. I use it in the shower a couple of times a week, and they do one for oily skin.
A wash cloth work great. It exfoliates your skin but is gentle enough not to damage it. If that does not do it for you than try mixing olive oil and sugar and scrub with that.
    this is really good

to exfoliate, you should use a face scrub- works better than a mask

i find the st. ives apricot scrub is the best exfolaitor. it has sand in it so it really cleans out the dead skin and gunk in your pores. it's not an active ingredient that does anything it's just the act of rubbing the sand on your pores. it breaks away dead skin and loosens pore-clogging material out of your pores. you can buy it at any drugstore, the supermarket, or target or walmart. it looks like this:

I would suggest using St Ives apricot scrub. It's a really good and cheap scrub which i use on on both my face and my body, and it leaves my skin really soft and smooth. Moreover, it's a really affordable product.

But one thing to note, do limit your exfoliation to at most 2-3 times a week. Anything more than that, and you could end up scrubing your skin raw.

You dont! The manufacturers say you do so that you will buy their products and make them rich.

A good wash and a factor 30 face cream does the job perfectly.

    The skin is self-exfoliating.

    Cleanse - wash

Moisturise - add a layer of cream to keep moisture in the skin

Exfoliate - remove top layer of dead skin (which the body manages to do all on its own!)

What natural products can you use to exfoliate?

Can anyone give me some mixes that you can make at home?

How would you apply it without leaving a mess in your house? - like i read one: mixing olive oil n sugar to make a paste? would you sit in your tub doing it? and how long should you leave it on for?

Thanks =DWhat natural products can you use to exfoliate?
Depending on what kind of skin you have, or what you want to acheive for your face, you can use a few of these recipes. I don't measure - I just eyeball it. The consistancy should be...pancake batterish. It shouldn't drip once it's on!

Use brown sugar and mix it with virgin olive oil (don't stir the lumps out, and apply with your hands) for an exfoliator if you're NOT prone to have any oily spots. If you've got oily spots, then you'll want to use course sea salt (epsom salts work, but not table salt) mixed with a little honey and a little water (mix water and honey til runny, then add salts without mixing - apply to face with hands). Both of these, rinse off with warm water, then splash your face with cold water.

If you wanted a facial exfoliator that also firms, then you'll want to add a bit of plain oatmeal into the honey and salt mixture, and leave it on til it is almost hard (be careful, it'll pull hairs, so avoid eyes and eyebrows).

Combination skin exfoliator - sugar and honey with a little water.

I normally just wipe it on my face, and neck to the collarbones, with my fingers, wash my hands and wander around my house or read until it's grown uncomfortably tight on my skin (about dried) then I rinse it off. It takes a bit longer to harden if you're sitting in a warm bath, but it'll still dry, so you can have yourself a plain water bath (no bubbles - the soap will dissolve the mask!).

Welcome to refined pores, no flakes, and firmer skin! What natural products can you use to exfoliate?
mix in some brown sugar with your regular face cleanser. i read about it in a magazine and it works really well. you dont have to leave it on you can just rinse it off like you would with regular cleanser. if you want to use a mask mixing about three tablespoons of olive oil with a 2 teaspoons of kosher salt works well
I like mixing sugar with lemon juice and using an exfoliating sponge.
Just use a loofa or exfoliating gloves. Then you can use your preferred soap. Remember to moisturize immediately afterwards.

Just start wearing chapstick. It works!

And over time, you're lips will be soft and silky

How often should I exfoliate my face?

I use St Ives Apricot Scrub about once a week... wondering if this is too harsh on my skin? How often do you use a scrub? How often should I exfoliate my face?
Products that exfoliate are different in the intensity of the abrasion. Some are more gentle than others. They can actually make your break out at first, as they open up the pores and draw out the toxins and dirt. The harsher ones can rip up your fragile skin, and your skin needs more time to ';heal'; between exfoliating.

I've found a balance using a gentle exfoliant every other day, I use oatmeal ';soap'; regularly. If I've been working in a dirty setting, landscaping/gardening/ cleaning the chimney or sweating a lot, I use a slightly more aggressive one, but only sparingly, once every 10-14 days. Between the two, I've found my skin to be more radiant, without being damaged.

I happen to use Olay products, because it works for me and I often find them 50-75% off in the markdown bins. I stock up so that I never have to pay full price.

It also depends on how old you are. I'm not young, so I have to be careful because our ability to heal wanes with age. It took me a couple of weeks to find a balance that worked for me. I tried cheap products, but they were kind of abrasive and made my skin sting. Instead of throwing them away, I used them on my feet.

These products can be very expensive - try the medium level or store brand, often the difference is in the packaging and not the product itself. Compare the ingredient labels. Good luck! How often should I exfoliate my face?
Humans shed their skin about every 28 days. You should not need to exfoliate more than once a month. Doing it more can cause over production of skin cells, which can cause a grainy feel and appearance to the delicate facial skin.

Exfoliate only once a month and use sunscreen every day on your face!!
My grandma uses St. Ives Apricot Scrub! I think she uses it once a week too! (im only 11 and she lives with me and my parents and my sisters) I think once a week is great! if it isnt turning out right, do it once or twice a month. Neutrogena has great products if you decide not to use the St. Ives scrub

    Have a nice day!

    =D
No once a week is how often you should exfoliate so you can get rid of makeup and other things that clog pores. However if the bottle says ';can be used daily'; you can use it as often as you'd like.
That can be a very harsh scrub... I would use that once per week.

If you decide to switch scrubs, Nuetrogena has a lot of great products.
not more than once a week cause your skin will become too dry. I used to go to a beautician and they used to tell me to do this :)
If it becomes to harsh on your skin you should only use it once a week.
To prevent dry skin, only do it once or twice a week

You can exfoliate three times a week on your body, but again don't over do it!

You may get used to it and feel good after exfoliating but it actually is more likely to cause problems and damaged skin if you exfoliate this often. Switch to doing it once every 3 days at the most.

Exfoliating too often irritates and damages the good cells rather than removing just the dead skin cells.
my dermatologist told me to only exfoliate once a week. anymore than that will hurt your skin and make your skin worse.

if your skin is getting tighet later in in the day, you need a better moisturizer. exfoliating eczema is not a good idea. you need to moisturize it. Keep it well hydrated.
once a week and if you want something that works and is cheap go to Spokane WA Craigslist and look under the general catagory a lady that sells a home remedy for acne.. it is a face lift in a bag also! 10 bucks a month! I use it and I really love it so I am trying to let people know about her! I get no compensation and I dont know her, its just a miracle as to what it did for me! I hope this helps!
Once a week in the colder months, twice a week in summer. In the summer or warmer months, oil and sweat is built up faster so twice then is good, but once for winter since your skin is probably drier in the winter.
Once a week is adequate - you dont want to be stripping your skin of normal/natural oils on a daily basis - let your skin recover from the scrub first
once a week if you have oily skin

you can start breaking out from it if you do it everyday

if you have very dry skin... once every 2-3 days
i would say once a week but there are some exfoloiators that are quite gentle so u are able to use them more than once a week, but b careful not to strip your natural oils.
    once a week

How do you exfoliate your skin?

People always say to exfoliate after waxing to avoid ingrown hairs or itching but what is it really? Do you have to use a special sort of sponge or product... if so, any recommendations? How do you exfoliate your skin?
Exfoliating helps to keep skin looking healthy and radiant, Exfoliation is when you gently remove the top layer of dead epidermis cells on your body. You can do this using an exfoliation product such as Apri or a body scrub. Garnier (part of L'Oreal) make an excellent one called Body Tonic Sugar Scrub.

Both Women AND Men should exfoliate.

Brush dry skin before getting into the shower. For best results you can use either a loofah, exfoliating gloves or an exfoliating brush. You can buy these at the Body Shop or Boots.

Always start at the soles of the feet and work your way up.

Get into the bath or shower, and follow the instructions on the pack.

If money is tight you can make your own exfoliating stuff by mixing sea salt, olive oil and lemon juice together.

    .

Rub rough spots, such as heels, with a pumice stone or stick.

Always rinse off all traces of exfoliator, take care in the bath as the surface will be more slippery than normal.

Only exfoliate once a week or so as the process dries the skin, after exfoliating always use a good body lotion to re-moisturise the skin. How do you exfoliate your skin?
Exfoliating is rubbing at the skin so the dead skin cells are buffed away as well as bacteria. It makes your skin feel smoother and is important in skin care. A good way to exfoliate your body is to buy body gloves. They cost around 拢1.99 and you rub your skin in circular movements to exfoliate it. If you want to exfoliate your face buy a daily exfoliating wash such as clean and clear. Hope this helps x
    call on ARNIE the EXFOLIATOR!
Use a face scrub for face, body one for body, foot one for feet :)

If you cannot be bothered then wash regular and use a face fennel, JUST AS GOOD. but remember to throroghly clean your fennel after use.

Exfoliation is a way of washing that removed dry and dead skin. You can use a Lufa, an exfoliating towel or a scrub. You can use a scrub like sea salt or a gel with exfoliating beads. It's kind of like sanding your skin with a super fine paper. The key is to even out your skin and make it smooth.

You may notice that, if you don't exfoliate, when you get out of the shower and dry your arms you will notice little clumps of dry skin gathering on your arms and towel--that is because you didn't exfoliate. Exfoliating leaves you smooth by eliminating that dead skin.
exfoliation is to help remove dead skin cells from the skin that make the skin look dull, increase blood circulation, which encourages new skin cells to come to the surface and to encourage new hair growth, it also helps to stop ingrown hairs. To exfoliate you can use body scrubs to help to exfoliate scrubs like sanctuary's salt scrub. you can also use a body brush to help to remove dead skin cells. It is recommend to exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week and it is important to use a body moisturiser everyday to keep the skin nourish.
I have a bath and wash myself.

Exfoliating is just the new posh word for having a good wash
Try the link bellow for answers
Exfoliating is just removing dead skin, you can do this by mixing sand in your lotion or buying lotion with exfoliates in them.

    Colleen
buy exfoliating wash gels, they have little beads through them to rub off dead skin particles etc. I started exfoliating my face every 3 days years ago and do not get spots or shaving rashes anymore.

Nivea have a good mens range as do Clinique etc.
buy a face scrub and it gets of you dead skin
No need to buy expensive scrubs olive oil and salt be4 u shower on damp skin have a go
i usually use APRICOT SCRUB by ST. IVES and when i was younger and didnt have money i used to use baking soda w/ a little water it actually works the same =0)
You can either buy a body scrub or use an exfoliating sponge. Some really good body scrubs are st.ives apricot scrub, or the body shop cocoa butter scrub. The body shop also do some bath gloves which are very effectuve as well.
There are producrs you can use to avoid ingrown hairs and post hair removal irritations. Priva Shave is particularly good.
Use apricot exfoliating body wash, you can get it from Asda %26amp; Boots. Or you can buy exfoliating gloves, you basically put you body wash on the gloves and wash as normal, they work a treat.

Good Luck in whatever you decide

How long to wait to exfoliate after a light chemical peel?

i had a chemical peel about a week ago, i had just finished peeling for 3 days. no more peeling!

im wondering how loing should i wait before exfoliate again with product like a gentle scrub. How long to wait to exfoliate after a light chemical peel?
if you just stopped peeling 3 days ago, i would wait a few more days. your skin will still be sensitive. better to be on the safe side

also if your getting a peel, of glycolic or another AHA/BHA ingredient you should not use an exfoliant at home because these peels are strong

  • How often should I exfoliate my face?

I bought some Garnier exfoliating face wash to help improve my acne, and I've been reading other questions about how often to exfoliate my face. Most people say 2-3 times a week, but this exfoliating stuff I bought says ';daily exfoliating wash';.

Should I still only be exfoliating 2-3 times a week, or since this stuff says ';daily'; is it like weaker or something, and thus safe to use once a day?How often should I exfoliate my face?
If you have oily skin you should exfoliate 2-3 times a week. if your skin is on the dryer side, you can use it daily. hope this helps! How often should I exfoliate my face?
Nah i think they just say that so you use more product and thus have to buy it more often lol. Stick with 2-3 times a week. More often and you could be stripping the natural oils from your face. Stick with just a normal cleanser daily
If it says daily on the bottle, it should be fine.

The exfoliant isn't nearly so harsh on daily scrubs.

I have a neutrogena daily scrub, and use it most days. I've had no problems?
YES. You NEEED to use it everyday. Also use rub it for two min. I do it! IT will get rid of it!

Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?

I don't have any sea salt or oilve oil to use. Or should I use sugar and water? Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?
the oil will clog your pores and sugar dissolves easily in water. Use baking soda in water. But don't rub too hard. Just mix the water and baking soda so it makes a gritty paste. Can you use vegetable oil and regular sugar to exfoliate your face?
I have heard you can mix salt with olive oil, or even try honey and some sugar, sounds yummy too! Don't use water though, use a light oil. Good luck!

Use table sugar mixed with a little cooking oil and rub lightly on your lips to make them softer. What is a good cheap way to exfoliate my lips?
    Tape; any kind, except Duct!
try wetting a wash cloth and rubbing it over your lips.
Haha, this sounds weird but it actually works. I read it in a magazine once. Just use an old dry toothbrush and lightly brush your lips every day. I do it and my lips are soft and smooth.
this one costs nothing! wet your lips with warm water. gently rub a washcloth on them for 20 seconds. apply some chapstick. and dont use a face expoliator on your lips.
no. if u could it would say lip and face exfoliator =)

    Exfoliate??????????????????

ya dis is goin to sound reallllllllllllllllllly stupid but how do i exfoliate??wut do i need to exfoliate???(plz no comments sayin im stupid %26gt;.%26lt; )Exfoliate??????????????????
There are A LOT of ways to exfoliate. The point of exfoliating is to get rid of your dead skin by scrubbing so to exfoliate, you'd need some type of scrub/exfoliant which you can buy at drugstores, grocery stores, and beauty supply stores. These need to be rough enough for your face/body to actually work. Those face washes with small beads that you can't feel don't work so your best bet would be to go with something you can feel working.

If you want to exfoliate your body, I recommend bliss products which smell yummy and feel really nice afterward (followed by their body cream). If you want to exfoliate your face, you'll need something a bit more gentler such as orgins modern friction.

i just figured out how to exfoliate

well anyways exfoliating is just a face scrub

exfoliating is to wash away all of you dead skin cells on your face and make it soft

    i ALWAYS exfoliate

    the best (imo)

    is...St Ives apricot scrub

    Hope i helped

and i think the video will help more than me
you could make a scrub for your face by mixing some lemon juice, honey and sugar, if you have some mineral oil, you put a couple of drops in there too. if you want to exfoliate your body try using a loofah.
all you need is table sugar it is a natural form of glycolic acid. mix it with your usual face wash in your palm and rub in a circular motion and wash off! You have exfoliated your face!

    Exfoliate???

What are your favorite products for exfoliateing..face and body???Exfoliate???
I just started using Arbonne's product line. their body scrub is awsome. you don't even have to use lotion afterwards bc it has oils in the scrub. PLus its all natural which I am very much into. Let me know if you want more info on it!Exfoliate???
I like Dermalogica products and Dermaware for professional grade products.

For drugstore level products, I like the Aveeno daily brightening scrub which is very mild
    15 min facial from clinique
I love the Shea Body Scrub from the Body Shop but the Buffy bar from Lush totally beats it. Basically its this bar with all these little fragments of nuts in ( at least, i think they're nuts!) and its got all this other stuff in it and then you rub it on your skin and when you wash it off you skin is as soft as....softness!:P Seriously, try it, you shall NEVER regret it!:D
The exfoliation scrubs from The Body Shop! I love the Papaya one. It smells good and is rough enough to get all of that nasty dead skin off!!!
for the face, i use cosmedicine face scrub, it's gentle and it doesn't over exfoliate - special formula exfoliates as your skin needs it so the grains disintegrate. for the body... like dermalogica body scrub or just a loofah.
i like ';biore warming blackhead fighting cream wash'; , ';johnsons gentle exfoliator'; , and ';St. Ives apricot scrub';. they are all really good and quite cheap. all for the face. XXX

    Exfoliate...?

i have acne, how can i exfoliate without irritaiting my skin.Exfoliate...?
A very gentle but effective exfoliater is to pour sugar in your hand (about the size of a quarter). Then add olive oil to it to form a paste that will adhere to your skin. Gently massage your skin and let the sugar do the work. The olive oil will not clog your pores, and you will not believe how smooth and soft your skin is afterwards. I have used this for years and for my age, I feel very fortunate to have such soft smooth skin! it also gives you a healthy glow afterwards. I use this every other night. Good luck, hope you like it as much as I do!

What are some good things to use to exfoliate...i want a homemade mask that wont require alot...but it will exfoliate. i have oily skin and i dont want it to dry it out...but i just want it to exfoliate.

please dont just tell me the things to use...but what i should do wth them and how long to keep it on for n stuff like that.

    thanks!Exfoliate?
I mix together sugar and lotion to make a past, then rub it on my face and body and then rinse off the sugar, your left with soft smooth skin. use any lotion you want. i use one that is for age fighting.Exfoliate?
oil and sugar... thats my fav homemade one. mix together really well, then let it sit for 5-7 minutes on your face and pat dry.

i really like biore shine reduction mask too, but that's not what you're looking for. :-)

    hope this helps...

    xoxo
Olive oil and salt works. Brown surger works really well. Mix honey

with olive oil and viniger %26amp; lemon juice can help too. Good luck!
honey mixed w/ milk, lemon juice, and/or nutmeg. Honey for moisture, milk for soothing skin, lemon juice to open up pores, nutmeg just because it gives good results. Add cinnamon for exfoliation. Leave it on, then rinse w/ warm water after 30 min, and pat dry. Use three times a day maximum.

    Exfoliate????

i hate my legs..they easly go red when i exfoliate, have ingrown hair and red dots...i recently bought a loofah and have heard if i regularly exfoliate using a scrub the dead skin is supposed to peel off and reveal ingrown hair and il get atleast better legs...is this true?Exfoliate????
it might help.i would try a gentle natural healing scrub with honey, milk, cinnomon, and oat meal.that way it's moisturizing and nourishing for your skin as well.plus the exfoliating beads in commercial cleansers and crap are made of petrolium derived plastic which is really bad for you inside and out.most commercial products are even if they claim to be natural and organic.so just be careful, read labels, and good luck...hmm maybe if exfoliating them doesn't help, try giving your legs a complete break for a little while, no harsh cleansing, no shaving, ect. and just wait till you can tweeze out some of the ingrown hairs.well i hope this helps.Exfoliate????
    it works on some ppl...

    Exfoliate?

is it best to exfoliate with st ives scrub every day or just once a week?Exfoliate?
St. Ives is pretty harsh to use every day. If you're using St. Ives I'd just stick to once a week. Neutrogena has a nice gentle scrub that can be used every day if that's what you're looking for.Exfoliate?
It depends on what part of the body you are exfoliating, if its your face I would recommended that you only use the scrub 2-3 times per week. If your doing your body then you can use the scrub more frequently.

    Licensed Aesthetican
Once a week should be plenty. Be careful not to irritate you skin by exfoliate too much it can take off too much and leave you open to infections.
It's supposed to exfoliate twice a week only.
    once a week

    too harsh to use daily

    Exfoliate?

Any good exfoliating products you know of and will it make my skin lighter?Exfoliate?
If your skin is naturally light and your trying to exfoliate off your tan so to speak, you can just use body polish exfoliating scrubs to do so...it just takes all the dead skin cells off (and this includes the dead skin from being tan)

I recommend Sephoa Sugar Body Scrub.

(because it's cheap and works just as well as the other ones that they sell there)

    look for products that say ';brown sugar';

    OR

I can share special beauty secret of mine...

You just buy your own brown sugar at the grocery store.

And by glycerin. The sell it in little bottles and it's clear but has a kind of syrupy texture.

You simply just mix brown sugar with glycerin and this makes your very own body scrub and you can use it right in the tub / shower. Try it sometime!Exfoliate?
Just go to the drug store %26amp; buy a body exfoliater. You don't need something expensive. Scrub gently every other day. Make sure you moisturize after with a moisturizing lotion because you don't want your skin to get dry.

What is a good cheap way to exfoliate my lips?

    10 bucks or less please.

if ur old enough--- lets suck face
Mix equal parts brown sugar with honey. Honey for moisturizing, and brown sugar for exfoliating. Be sure not to rub hard, and put chapstick on daily.

Is it necessary to exfoliate your skin every time before applying tanning lotion?

today is the first time i use a tanning lotion, Neutrogena Build-a-Tan. so i wash up really well with a body soap that exfoliates..

but im wondering is it necessary to do that every time before you apply tanning lotion?

because im planning on applying it everyday before bed..

do i have to exfoliate or just use normal soap to wash up from now on?Is it necessary to exfoliate your skin every time before applying tanning lotion?
Exfoliate once a week to remove any extra dead skin. Do not over exfoliate or you will not keep a tan of any kind because you are rubbing off too many new skin cells. Let the lotion dry completely before going to bed or you will be splotchy. do not use bar soap either, it leaves a residue on your skin that will prevent the tanning lotion from getting deep into your skin!!

Why do you need to exfoliate when using Energy Glow with Subtle Self Tanners?Exfoliate?
You should exfoliate before using any sef tanner. It's to remove any buildup of skin cells that will cause your new tan to be uneven. Exfoliate and moisturize the night before you apply the self tanner.

Any suggestions? and also whats a good face moisturizer? Nothing too expensive though. Thanks if you can just list a couple things (:What is a good product to exfoliate your face with?
the cheapest product to exfoliate with has to be baking soda..just mix in a little water untill it's a little pasty.. i know it sounds nuts but a lady who did my facial once told me to use it.. its not harsh on your skin at all like some exfoliants out there.. all i kno is to stay away from exfoliants like that apricot scub.. soooo bad for your skin.. unfortunately the good skin care is expensive as far moisturizers.. but the baking soda made my skin feel great.. just don't do it more than a couple times a week :)What is a good product to exfoliate your face with?

You must try Gold Bond. I also suffer from exema and I have tried everything from Euccerin, Aveda, Nivea, Vasaline, Coco butter, finally I took the advice of a friend and starying using Gold Bong Co10. You would not believe how well and lasting this product works. It cost about $10. Other products just sat on top of my skin, this product actually penetrates %26amp; I don't have to moisturize every 10 mins. What is a good way to exfoliate and mosturize?
When i clean, exfoliate and wash my face, I use Clean and Clear morning burst, then at the end of my shower I use St.Ives apricot scrub, then I moisturize with Vaseline.
Alveena oatmeal body wash..alveena body moisturizing lotion..Dermatologist recommended..I have it also.Be careful of your gluten intake also, it irritates it.

How do you exfoliate your skin?

Can some1 take me through the process of how you exfoliate ur skin on your body? would you exfoliate dry using a loofah or do you have to wet it? wouldnt exfoliate be d same as scrubbing wid a foamy loofah dat has soap on it?How do you exfoliate your skin?
I personally like to get in the hot shower so that the steam will open up the pores, use St Ives face scrub and Neutrogena body scrub. But if you have sensitive skin try using the beads instead, its softer but just as effective. I also use a loofah for my body and hands for my face. How do you exfoliate your skin?
Rookie - you can exfoliate your skin wet or dry.

Wet or dry using a natural bristle back brush. Just dry brush your entire body before a bath/shower or use in the bath or shower

Wet using a loofah. Or get some exfoliating gloves and use on your entire body with your favorite bath soap or gel.
Now days they sell products that exfoliate your skin.Alot of ppl have recommended using St. ives apricot scrub.Im thinking about buyign it sometime
exfoliating is just any way that you use to scrub the dead skin cell off of your skin. scrubbing with a foamy/soapy wet loofah will exfoliate just fine, it's what i do
Just use this and follow instructions http://www.revitol.com/skin-exfoliator/?鈥?/a>
    Sugar Scrub.

Mix one cup of sugar and baby oil together until it looks like a scrub.

While you are in the shower rub it all over your body but make sure not to get in hair or on face.

    Rinse thoroughly.

Your skin will be super soft.

How should I exfoliate and how often? Any home remedies for oily skin? Or store bought items?

I have REALLY OILY SKIN, mild acne, and a lot of ACNE SCARS! What should I exfoliate with and how often? Any home remedies or store bought items? Thanks in advance. How should I exfoliate and how often? Any home remedies for oily skin? Or store bought items?
start with once a week, mix pulverised oatmeal with honey and if too thick a coupla dropsa water. Gently massage in circles and rinse with barely warm water, pat dry

Best of luck to youHow should I exfoliate and how often? Any home remedies for oily skin? Or store bought items?
I sent via Y/A an email answering your questions Report Abuse

Do not use alcohol on your face to control oil since harsh products can trigger more oil production on face .Avoid food items with oil and fats. Avoid processed, junk and sugary food, as they affect oily skin adversely. More cheap, effective and natural home remedies for oily skin at the link below.
I have your same problem. I use 2 diff. methods. Proactiv system (all 3 steps). Or a Buff Puff with dove soap and Cetaphil Facial Moisterizer. I know you'd think that you shouldn't moisturize if you have oily skin, but you should. My scars have lightened up A LOT.
You shouldnt be using sugar or salt on your skin the beads are rough and will tare up your pores.

i have really oily skin with acne also, I recently started using Lush coal face cleanser it's a black bar of soap with exfoliating beads inside it, I use it once a day because it really does drys your skin out and sucks the oil out so a light moisturizer after is a must i also use fresh farmacy to help with my pimples. To control my oiliness i love MAC's oil control lotion and blotting powder during the day instead of papers, its available at MAC stores and is a bit expensive, they do give samples.
You should try the Biore line, I did the facial scrub and the Blemish Fighting Ice cleanser. And drink lots of water.

My face began acting up after my baby and it got really bad after I miscarried, so my acne was mostly from stress, but I would think acne is acne.

Anyway after I began using these two my face has cleared up beautifully and you can't even see the blemishes anymore.
I like the Neutrogena At-Home Microdermabrasion kit.... use as directed. Fades scars and smooths skin.
    .
THESE ARE LONG INSTRUCTIONS BUT A SIMPLE,FAST,AND EFFECTIVE REMEDY!!

Anything that's Biore' works perfect for oily skin. I had the same problem b4 i started using it.

-Biore' pore minimizing scrub. (oily-ness and acne)

-Biore' pore perfect astringent. (mostly for acne)

    Instructions-

Run your hot water until its as hot as you can stand. Then with a wash cloth or hand towel use the rough side and scrub all over your face. (But not too hard) I know this sounds like it hurts but it doesnt. It really helps exfoliate. Then after you have exfoliated your skin, put as much as it says to use. (usually dime-sized) and do the same. (but this time do it on the soft side.) Then, once you've dried your face completely, use a cotton round or square and pat the astringent on your face.

This worked for me!! It started showing results in about 2-3 days!!

    HOPE I HELPED!!

    Smooches,

    Sammi

p.s. Only do this once daily! (Preferably night. Just because your face gets some resting time before the make-up comes.)
I can recommend an awesome product line its the papaya enzyme exfoliate , cleanser, toner , and resurfacing mask from bee-luscious skincare and cosmetics. I have tried so many different products but nothing ever worked better, and it leaves your skin radiant and soft I have received many compliments and I also began to use the hydrating creme concentrate that has left my face velvety soft, the products are on beeroyalproducts.com you can buy the package of like 4-5 products for 100 dollars and it lasts a long time like 6 months good luck
You should not exfoliate your skin more than 2 times a week, or you will start to cause irritation. once a week is great and even every other week is perfectly healthy. I use the Microdermabrasion Set from Mary Kay. It works beautifully.

For oily skin you will want a daily cleanser and moisturizer that is specifically designed for oily skin. Mary Kay also has the TimeWise Miracle Set that covers those needs. Using that daily will DEFINITELY smooth your skin and reduce (even eliminate if you're true to it) your acne. Drinking more water will also help reduce the acne.

For the scars you will want an oil free foundation (mary kay also has these)that will help to cover the scars. Using these cosmetics together will help your skin heal over time and become fresh and healthy and smooth and beautiful. I'm so glad you are interested in taking care of your skin, because it will make you just glow and be so gorgeous! If you'd like any samples just let me know, I personally like trying something before spending the money. I promise you will see a definite difference real fast.
Ok, I once had oily skin too, and mild acne. Then i found a home mixture that really helped my skin. Once a week, I use a 3/4 cup brown sugar and 3 cup milk mix to exfoliate my skin. In the shower, I use Dove soap only on my face. It's designed to dry out skin. Together, this mix removed excess oil and acne from my now beautiful face! you can have beautiful skin too!
I really like sugar scrubs for my body and the little beads for my face (less abrasive). I usually exfoliate every other day. My skin is combination oily.

Exfoliating your skin with salt and using harsh wash clothes and scrubing your face and using things like loofas harm your face

Exfoliating is when you open up your facial pores. Use steam for this. Take a long, hot shower. Go to a sauna, ect.How do you exfoliate you face?
A raw potato is cheap and brilliant acne natural cure, especially for whiteheads. The vitamin C makes your skin glow, and alkaline in the potato kills the bacteria on your face. The potato also has an exfoliating effect helping you to get rid of dead skin cells. Papaya fruit produces similar effect; you should also use it raw. (Make sure the potato isn't genetically modified!)

    I like Burt's Bee's Citrus Scrub.
I use baking soda once or twice a month.

I add it to my face wash. That's all.

Salt has square sides so it scratches your skin.

You tend to need more moisturizer after using a salt based cleanser.

I really like to use a aspirin and honey mask/scrub. I use it about once a week and it makes my face really soft, shrinks pores and exfoliates. Try it! Here's how to make and use it:

Why when I exfoliate my skin with a brush it gets oilier?

My skin is naturally oily and whenever I use a microdermabrasion cream (by Dr. Brandt) you have to scrub it really hard for like 3 minutes in each area of your face, and that never makes my skin oilier. But recently I bought a clarisonic skin care pro brush and it's made my skin really smooth but a lot oilier. Why when I exfoliate my skin with a brush it gets oilier?
One thing you got to know is that what comes out of your skin came from in side you. Meaning what you eat is affecting your skin.

write a list of all the foods and drinks you eat for one week. go to a nutritionist or fine a online that will analyze your eating habits. So when start to eat healthy your oily skin improve.

What tools and types of products can you exfoliate with?

products, rough things or whatever you can use , kits, or treatments to exfoliate with? What tools and types of products can you exfoliate with?
well it depends onwhat area of your body really. on your face you can just get a face scrub or a peel off mask. if you want really glowy face you should look into microdermabrasion treatments or kits.

your body: a loofah and a body skin scrub.

    feet: pumice stone or file

    lol

but do a little bit of research into each of those to find the right product or treatment thats right. What tools and types of products can you exfoliate with?
Get a loofa, get several so you can switch them out. They exfoliate well. Victoria's secret has a great exfoliater sugar scrub that smells wonderful. You can also use a sea salt scrub. Be sure to get a good moisturizer also. When u exfoliate the vitamins in the moisturizer can penetrate into your skin better because their are no dead skin cells to block it. You will be glowing!!!!! This also helps you maintain a great tan.

10% TCA, apply and leave it at that.you will feel tingling sensation,it is ok.

in about a week's time you will get to see the results.

don't try stronger concentration.TCA is available at dispensing chemists %26amp; druggists.50ml to 100ml should serve your requirement.use surgical gloves or similar while applying the solution.

from the following day use sun screen.

any sane would interpret one as on.
I use a mixture of olive oil and sugar. Mix about 1/4 cup of oil with 2 tbls. of sugar. I use this on my face, but it should be fine on your leg or legs...lol. Just double the recipe, and you don't have to be exact. Happy exfoliating!
i use a mixture of honey and sea salt on my face for exfoliation, probably works just as good for legs...
blend a kiwi, cucumber, sugar and honey together and rub on body. Wait 10 minutes than gently rinse. it works wonders!

What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?

currently i have just had my face above the nozzle of a kettle for 10 mins, twice a day, followed by a hot shower wear i wash my face, (and then twice a week i use an exfoliating face wash, as thats how often it indicates to use it)

is this the most effective way for reducing acne in terms of exfoliation, or should i for example put a towel over my face when doing it? ect...What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?
The more you do to your skin, the more sore and irritated it will get. This will make it produce more sebum (oil), and so cause more spots.

My advice is to stop trying to 'exfoliate', and don't use any harsh scrubs on your skin, even if it is only twice weekly. The best treatment for acne is to wash your face with Clearasil or similar twice per day, then apply a little light, unscented moisturiser.

Anything more just makes things worse. What is the most effective way to exfoliate using a kettle (acne wise) and how often a day is most effective?
Exfoliating one's face will probably have no effect on acne, even if you put three towels over your face.

From the age of 13, I struggled with acne. My mother also struggled. She took me to at least a half dozen dermatologists, spending hundreds of dollars to help me. My parents were not wealthy. My father was a mechanic, and my mother was a stay-at-home mother.

One dermatologist recommended I cut my hair very short, and shampoo with a prescription shampoo every day. One dermatologist used a special instrument to ';pop'; my zits, and prescribed a prescription medication to apply. One dermatologist recommended I stop eating any fried foods and apply Clearasil. I tried the ';kettle';, for 30 minutes every day. Nothing worked.

My mother finally found, through her sister, a dermatoligist who used x-ray treatments on severe skin anomalies. I had 12 x-ray treatments on my face over 50 years ago, and have never had acne problems since. I have no scars.

My cousin, who also had acne problems, had her face ';planed';. She has scars that can only be removed by plastic surgery.

Unfortunately, x-ray treatments for acne are not longer available. Too bad.
You can take a hot compress to your face before washing it before bed -

I'd exfoliate twice a week but make sure it's for acne prone skin -

Wash your face twice daily with acne wash

  • What's the best way to exfoliate the skin around your eyes?

I have lots of stubborn-to-shift flakes stuck to the skin around my eyes but can't find an exfoliator that you can use around the eyes. I used moisturizing/anti wrinkle eye cream twice a day but to no avail.

I'm English so please only offer products I can buy in England.

Thanks!!!!What's the best way to exfoliate the skin around your eyes?
Hi the reason why they dont make an exfoliator for your eyes is because you are not suppose to use anything that harsh around the eye area at all as it can damage the skin around your eye as its so thin.

To get it off I suggest using a damping the area around your eyes and using a mild make up remover as it contains conditoners or baby oil and gently rub the dead skin off and then rinse and follow with your eye cream. What's the best way to exfoliate the skin around your eyes?
Sugar is good for exfoliating, i'm not too sure about the eyes tho, as the eyes are a very sensitive area with thin skin.

Try the boots brand face cream for very dry skin, that works for me =) or cocoa butter.
why not just use an exfoliating face wash

Is it really necessary to exfoliate your skin?

Does it actually have benefits, or is it just another one of those beauty gimmicks? Is it really necessary to exfoliate your skin?
Your skin will naturally exfoliate on it's own. We lose dead skin cells every day. To help the process along will help with your skins appearance. The beauty gimmick is if you pay an obscene amount of money for an exfoliating scrub. You can achieve this by simply using a cloth or a loofah when you bathe. Is it really necessary to exfoliate your skin?
    It helps me out.

Dead skin usually makes my acne get worse than it is.

So I use Noxema exfoliating scrub every morning and night and its getting better.
st. ives apricot scrub is a good start.. exfoliation is a must once a week in order to remove dead skin cells that clog our pores and cause blemishes.. ordinary soaps or facial wash may not be enough to do the job.
well just think that theres not many ways to unblock ur skin and get out all the dead skin cells. exfolitating does just that
It's helpful to most people to do it at least occasionally. But you don't need expensive gimmicky products. If you look up exfoliant recipes, or homemade exfoliant you'll find excellent ways to exfoliate your skin that don't cost much at all.

Is there a way to exfoliate without having to wash?

I want to exfoliate my father's now bald head because he has so much dead skin on top of it and falling over him as well (cancer patient). But every way I know of exfoliating is by washing and washing his head would be so difficult and messy and its too hard to get him in a bath or anything like that. I want to do it dry with him just sitting. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance. Is there a way to exfoliate without having to wash?
That first chick to answer was so rude. We can't expect the whole world to be mature I guess. It's ok to want to take care of your father. Just because he has cancer does not mean that he can't be groomed and made to feel well about himself. I don't think you should leave him in his dead skin, especially if it's falling all over him. Exfoliating his head can be very relaxing if done gently. People go to spas to have exfoliating scrubs for pleasure all the time. I have a scrub that I bought from a health food store that can be used on dry skin. After GENTLY rubbing in the scrub, you can use a damp, warm cloth to wipe it all clean. You do want to be careful of what you use though because it will absorb through his skin. I suggest making an all natural scrub from a healthy oil (i.e extra virgin olive oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil, etc.) and mix it with cornmeal. Rub it on dry skin and wipe with the damp, warm cloth when finished. This is all natural and has no harmful chemicals or carcinogens that cause problems such as cancers and skin damage. Good luck to you and your father. I hope that he has a wonderful recovery. He is lucky to have a child like you to take care of him.Is there a way to exfoliate without having to wash?
He has a cancer %26amp; your thinking of exfoliating his bald head?I think, that's the least thing on his mind.Show some compassion, please.

Is it true that you can get tanner faster after you exfoliate your skin?

I just read you can get a tan (from the actual sun) more quickly after you make sure all the dead skin is gone. Is this true or does it only apply for tanning sprays and lotions? Is it true that you can get tanner faster after you exfoliate your skin?
No, you won't tan faster however exfoliating does make your tan last longer because you have removed the dead skin beforehand. Also, by exfoliating your tan will look more even and balanced, if you do use fake tan then you have to exfoliate to stop patches and streaks from forming. Hope this helps!!

Looking for product to exfoliate skin OTHER than the gritty exfoliators?

The granules in those exfoliators seem to get trapped in my large pores and no matter how well I rinse off the product, I always end up with deep hard pimples or cysts 2-3 days later.

Please recommend a good exfoliator that doesnt have the sand-type particles or beads.

I've heard just using a plain washcloth is all you need to exfoliate but I'm looking for other methods as well.Looking for product to exfoliate skin OTHER than the gritty exfoliators?
I'd look for something in the store like this:

I've always had great results!Looking for product to exfoliate skin OTHER than the gritty exfoliators?
    Remove dead skin.

Rub a dab of Miracle Whip into your skin and let it for dry a few minutes. While the skin is moist massage with your fingertips. Dead skin will rub off your feet, knees, elbows, or face.
ground up oatmeal works wonders. It's safe because it doesn't contain chemicals and oatmeal is anti-inflammatory.
microfiber facial cloths are said to help........proactive brand cleanser is like a regular cream cleanser, but helps exfoliate---any product with salycylic acid (at least 2%) helps exfoliate; i've heard of people scrubbing their face w/ regular salt, sea salt, a handful of sugar (great until u see ants in your bathroom)---oh, and also coffe grounds..........
I wouldn't use an exfoliators every day those aren't good for your skin. I would use Velocity by Mary Kay I love it.
Glycolic Acid found in many moisturizers. Neutrogena Healthy skin has it. I love it.

  • Is it okay to exfoliate my face twice everyday?

I use St. Ives Apricot scrub in the morning and in the evening when I need to wash my makeup off. I love how soft it left my skin afterwards and it seems to make my face brighter. But is it okay to use it that often since it's an exfoliating scrub? Would my skin get really sensitive? Is it okay to exfoliate my face twice everyday?
It should be okay, just as long as it isn't drying out your skin. If it does start to, just use it once a day. And use should use a moisturizer. Hope this helps. :)Is it okay to exfoliate my face twice everyday?
I don't think you should because exfoliating basically gets rid of the dead skin. After you exfoliate in the morning, you're not going to need it in the evening so it may make your face red and blotchy if you use it more than once every few days.
Because exfoliant gets rid of the dry and dead skin, using it that regularly will cause it to strip the natural oils from your face, leaving it overly dry. It's best to exfoliate once a week, twice at most.
it is not gud 2 use scrub twice a day it wil makes ur skin colorless after some days.

it will effect ur natural skin, use it for 2 r 3 times in a week

Is it safe to exfoliate face with baking soda?

I know people do it, but does it actually work? Is it actually safe? I generally like to keep it as natural as possible and this sounds a little harsh. Any dermatologists here know anything about this?!Is it safe to exfoliate face with baking soda?
Actually baking soda is one of those old, all-purpose remedies that everyone used to use for everything. People used to brush their teeth with it for their whitening effects, which, common sense leads me to believe, would make it gentle enough to wash your face with.

When in doubt, however, asked a real dermatologist. Is it safe to exfoliate face with baking soda?
It is safe and natural. I add a little baking soda to my Cetaphil and apply and rinse.
i do it about once a month.

i make sure my face is wet, my face cloth is wet, then i sprinkle a little baking soda on my face cloth.

i very gently wipe my face in a circular motion with the baking soda.

it's also good for scrubbing the dead skin off your feet and keeping other skin soft.

just be sure to wipe softly in sensitive skin areas.
Baking soda is a generic term for bicarbonate of soda or IIRC sodium bicarbonate. It is extremely good at absorbing odors. It is also good for making baked goods.

What is does for a face is a guess to me. It may absorb impurities and dirt...it can strengthen laundry detergent, which explains Arm and Hammer laundry detergent. Baking soda is not acidic but fairly neutral in pH if not a base compared to a similar agent, borax additive (BORAXO). You can't be harmed much, if at all using it. You might ask a doctor about it as they were trained to know it and guide you.
I've seen it suggested. Sounds totally harmless to me since some OTC products actually have ground peach pits. Baking soda is actually less abrasive than the exfolitating I use. Not a professional here.
    Sounds pretty unusual really(?)!

(plain p H ~NEUTRAL soap %26amp; water is better, safer etc, ,etc!!)

Cos faces have a good blood supply %26amp; are very sensitive)
why do you not just use plain white sugar or normal fine sea salt, it is coarser and will work better.
Baking soda is a cleanser. once used for cleaning kitchens etc. It is in many toothpastes too.Exfoliation is a process whereby the product used will remove dead skin cells. A gentle and antiseptic exfoliate is good old fashioned salt. Many exfoliates also contain finely ground pumice stone. I personally, would prefer to purchase an exfoliate from a shop where natural products are sold and not tested on animals. Purely to be on the safe side.

Well the peels....depending on which one, u would apply it twords the middle of ur face going outward..making it even through out ur whole face... letting it dry... for however long it may take...

then from the edge of ur face u should be able to peel it away.

And the ';Exfoliating'; products are pretty much the same...it's like a scrub... u either rub...hard or soft depending on the exfoliant itself...DETERMINE BY TOUCHING THE CREAM.

Its natural, only crushed walnut shells. Follow the directions and use it for 1 minute at the time. Works wonders! And its cheap!

    1 part honey

    1 part poppy seeds

1-3 drops lavender/sandalwood essential oil (not necessary just nice)

I've used this many times and can assure you that it is safe to use anytime. Fairly inexpensive to produce and the essential oil element can be changed to any scent of preference (Masculine, Feminine, etc.)

the lavender/sandalwood oils are suggested because of astringent properties.

    Sample recipe:

    1 cup of honey

    1 cup of poppy seeds

    3 drops sandalwood essential oil

Usage: Apply liberally to affected area, scrub gently for several minutes or until skin becomes smooth and soft, rinse with warm water, repeat as necessary

the above recipe has usually been enough for me to do most/all of my body, although the more the better
A gritty exfoliating scrub would probably work, but you would have to use it daily. I get the same problem on my legs, they are called ingrown hairs and I very gently ease them out from the skin with a needle/pin. There is also a product called ingrow go which encourages them to grow out the right way.
i use an exfoliating gel along with ash cloth. between the two of them i get rid of dry skin all over my body. plus it also softens the skin so that it is not all that rough and irritated.

How do you use sand to exfoliate and do you have any ideas what to do with sand?

I have sand from the river and do not know what to do with it. Ideas? How do you use sand to exfoliate and do you have any ideas what to do with sand?
My mother had a dangerous deep narrow step out to her garage--I painted it bright white and sprinkled fine sand on it to give it traction. If you don't need this, perhaps you could do it as a kindness for someone who might need it . Find some leftover paint somewhere and Voila!

Have a lot? Keep it covered in a box or bin in a sunny spot. When you are tired, sore, or stressed, go to your sand and sink your feet in, or lie down in it. Extremely relaxing, good for the muscles, and you will think about the gorgeous river it came from.

Now, if you happen to have a water fountain nearby... A-a-a-h-h-h Talk about mini-vacations!How do you use sand to exfoliate and do you have any ideas what to do with sand?
That depends on how much sand you have and what your needs are. It's probably too rough to use as an exfoliant. You could till it into clay soil to improve drainage or sterilize it and use as a hydroponic growing medium. Mix it with cement to make concrete. Make a sandbox.
If you have nice, fine sand you could make a Japanese rock garden (Zen Garden).

Sugar or salt would probably make a better skin exfoiliant.

I know you should exfoliate your face 2-3 times a week, but are you supposed to exfoliate in the morning and night or just night?

Should I use a loofah or a sponge???How many times should I exfoliate my face?
Because I wear makeup I use a face sponge every other day along with weekly face streaming to deep clean pores.

I prefer night so that I can allow my skin to regenerate along with my body as I sleep

You should use a face sponge not a sponge for your body. They are different and are usually a different color to distinguish from a body sponge, go easy on the pressure, don't overdo it.

You're doing it about twice a week is fine. How many times should I exfoliate my face?
No loofahs! they collect bacteria and cause pimples and are just generally gross.

Just exfoliate 2-3 times per week. It doesn't matter if it's morning OR night, but def not morning AND night.

Use a facial exfoliator brush or sponge. and don't forget to tone and moisturize afterward.
Every few days I use sea salt as a scrub. It's cheap and it works (and it's not going to hurt marine life if it works its way out to the ocean). I just rub it around with my fingers.

  • Exfoliate for around the bikini line and where I shave?

I get ingrowns around my bikini line and ontop where I shave. Whats a good exfoliate to use there to hopefully help the ingrowns? A normal body scrub would be too harsh. Something homemade and natural maybe? What do you use?Exfoliate for around the bikini line and where I shave?
I know it's strange for a guy to answer this question, but every guy shaves his face, so the same rules of shaving apply. First, ingrown hairs are caused by a hair not leaving the follicle properly after shaving. First, shave with HOT water and a good shaving cream. You don't need a lot of cream, but you should reapply it if you shave a couple of directions (with grain, against grain) to get it smooth. Second, rinse with COLD water to close the pores. This is the area that most ingrowns come from. Third, use a cream like NIVEA after rinsing with cold water. As a pharmacy tech, I can tell you that NIVEA cream is the nearest thing to human skin oil. That should reduce the razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs. Hope this help. Also, make sure that your razor is sharp. If it's dull or feels like it's dragging or pulling, discard it and use a fresh sharp razor.Exfoliate for around the bikini line and where I shave?
Sugar scrubs are very gentle and they dissolve in water.
I use Avon shower scrub. To prevent the razor burn and bumps, as soon as you shave, put a thin layer of Secret solid on the area. It really helps.
Go to Boots or Body Shop and buy a body brush. Before sorting out your bikini line, use the brush and rub clockwise on the areas which are spotty, then rub anti-clockwise.This will free up any trapped hairs and leave it nice and smooth. If ingrowing hairs are a real hassle for you-i would use a hair removal cream instead. This penetrates below the skin and when the hair grows back it will be softer rather than prickly.Shaving just slices the hair at the surface of the skin and leaves you with stubble!Good luck!!
I don't use a scrub - I just use my shower gel with the exfoliating gloves. Also, if you stop in a more upscale salon, you can buy something called ';Tend Skin';. It's specifically to prevent ingrown hairs and works really well.
Skin Doctor do an ingrown hair eliminator cream that's fab. You'll get it from any good salon. Or google it for local sources.
or u could even use like a mild soap, with exfoliating gloves?

For the face you can also use the above recipes but I like this recipe best.

    PAPAYA MASK/EXFOLIANT

Cut papaya in 1 inch chunks. Blend/mash 2 or 3 chunks and store the wrest in the freezer. Apply the blended/mashed papaya and leave on face for 10-20 min. Use 2 or 3x a week.

The papaya may tingle but that just means that the papaya is working and it is breaking down dead skin cells to give that lovely glow and since it breaks down the dead skin it clears out the pores and in turn they shrink!!! (You may not see the results you want until you use it for a while.)

Hope this helps!!!!How often should I exfoliate? What is the best way to exfoliate your face and body?
exfoliate face and body ONCE a week.. doing it more than that will scrape off the skin's natural moisture and cause dryness.. you can't go wrong with st. ives apricot scrub, use it with your favorite facial wash and body wash when you exfoliate..How often should I exfoliate? What is the best way to exfoliate your face and body?

How often or should i exfoliate my skin?

Hi I'm 16 and I have oily skin. I get spots generally on my chin and on my forehead. I was wondering is it important for me to exfoliate.. I never do.. Will this help open my pores? How often or should i exfoliate my skin?
If you have oily skin, you can generally exfoliate two to three days a week without any harsh effects. Obviously, you should skip the exfoliation or do it less often if your skin feels dry or irritated, or if it looks red and flaky.

To open your pores, try putting a damp towel in the microwave for a tiny bit, and then stick the warm towel over your face. It will open your pores. How often or should i exfoliate my skin?
Yes it will help your skin a lot and you should do it about once every other week and if your skin is that oily do it once a week I hope this helps :)

Any suggestions on how to exfoliate better?

I am 21 and had great skin in my teenage years. Recently my forehead has become bumpy and keeps breaking out, while the rest of my skin stays clear and smooth. Any tips on how to get rid of this situation?Any suggestions on how to exfoliate better?
I am in my mid-20's and the samething happened to me a couple of years ago. I bought something that Clinique sells - an emergency blemish gel - and the stuff works awesome. It's meant for spot treatment, but sometimes I rub it all over my forhead after I wash my face and before bed. It takes about two days to dry it all up.Any suggestions on how to exfoliate better?
Avon sells a nice clay mask that helps me alot and I am 35 years old. Also in the same line of products, try creme cleanser and the toner , all called Porefection from Avon.
    wash your face every day
Don't exfoliate with a scrub if your skin is broken out!!! If you have a breakout and you scrub away, you are further irritating the skin and spreading hte bacteria that caused the breakout in the first place.

Use a very gentle cleanser and only exfoliate the areas that aren't broken out. Of try to find a good enzyme exfoliating treatment that is like a mask where you don't scrub, you just apply like a mask then rinse- it has active fruit enzymes in it that exfoliate without the harmful scrubbing.
sound like your having a reaction to your make up change the brand and watch it will clear up.

I have had this happen and a girl that works with me just had the same thing...all kinds of bumps she changed and they went away..

    good luck
St. Ives Apricot scrub is a really good exfoliator! I'd also try Proactiv- it's really good stuff!
