How to naturally exfoliate dead skin on my face?

I have small dry patches of dry dead skin on my faceHow to naturally exfoliate dead skin on my face?
You can get an apricot face scrub. It will really take that dead skin off, and make the skin look fresh. You may want to use it 2 or 3 times a week at least. How to naturally exfoliate dead skin on my face?
I use an Apricot Scrub [there's all kinds of versions out there -- personally, I reccomend the cheapo-hey-this-looks-exactaly-like-that鈥?br>

It's really nice, and I use it about twice a week.

And ALSO! If you're going to be scrubbing your face, make SURE you use some type of skin moisturizer. It will hurt if you dont, and you'll continue to see dry patches, and you wont be able to do anything about it.

USE MOISTURIZEERR!!! [not body lotion, ouch.]

[tried that before.. XD]
Honey and cinnamon mixed together is a natural method of exfoliation. However, you will need to shower afterwards because the honey is very sticky.

How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?

I'm 13 and going to Mexico soon. I will be at the beach almost everyday and exposed to sun, water, wind, sand, and a whole lot of pore-clogging sunscreen. I don't know whether or not to bring my face scrub and/or body exfoliant. I don't know if it would help get the dirt and salt water off me, or if, under those conditions, it would be to hard on my skin. Either way, I will moisturize every night. Thanks!!How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?
There are sunscreens that are made not to clog your pores. Try Neutrogena sunblock Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 45. I like it, and according to Neutrogena ';A great all-over, everyday sunblock -- so absorbent and light you won't even notice it. Other perks of this dermatologist-recommended, broad-spectrum sunblock: antioxidants to fight environmental damage, waterproof, sweat-proof, and it won't clog pores';.

I wouldn't exfoliate other than the sand and salt. You don't say how long you'll be there, but at 13 you don't need to exfoliate alot anyway.

Have fun!How often (if at all) should I exfoliate my face/body when at the beach?
Hi, sand is a natural exfoliant, so there is no need to exfoliate while on the beach. A moisturizer is a must have, and should be used daily.

Can you exfoliate your face with natural ingredients?

Can you make your own exfoliate product with fruits and vegetables or even salt? if so can you tell me ? Can you exfoliate your face with natural ingredients?
yes you can! You don't even have to do anything fancy, just get a little bit of sugar (it's gentler than using salt) scrub on your face everyday for a week and you'll see great results! Can you exfoliate your face with natural ingredients?
yepp.

my mom bought me this facewash thats like all natural or somthing.

it doesnt sting at all and it really clears up your face overnight.

and I was watching this show once and it said you can give yourself like chocolate facials and it makes your skin alot better.

lol :]
You can make a mask of egg whites that will remove some dead skin. Whisk them with a fork, apply to skin, let dry and rinse. I'm adding a link with some more ideas.
You can exfoliate with baking soda or salt. Just add honey. Good Luck!
yes you can! they sell them in avon and at the chemist and body shops.
yeah

use lemon juice and salt

although its still better for your skin to buy one instead

You can exfoliate at home with baking soda and water. Wet a washcloth, ring it out, then sprinkle on your baking soda. Scrub. Rinse.

Do you know of a good exfoliate?

I have fairly sensitive skin, but I need to know if anyone knows of a good product (a natural one would be nice). My skin looks so dull and I know I need to get rid of the dead skin cells on my face. Would appreciate any advice.Do you know of a good exfoliate?
Try lush angels on bare face, it's natural and it doesnt hurt your skin, it lasts a long time too! Your skin will be so smooth afterwards, here is the information and review: http://beauty-tricks.com/index.php?optio鈥?/a>Do you know of a good exfoliate?
Ok, I have sensitive skin too and swear by Aveeno Postively B. It's not expensive and you can pick it up at your local drug store. I use the facial one every other day, and the body one every day in the shower.... I love it.

St. Ives isn't the best, and is a bit harsh if you have senstive skin...

Origins is a bit too expensive. I like to find products that I like that are priced right so that i can keep buying them ;)
Try Queen Helene scrub. It is really nice.

Origins has a product called Face Polish and it is amazing. A little bit goes a long way, and my face feels incredible after using.
Try some grade 00 sandpaper, that'll bring a glow to your skin.

  • What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?

I have the roughest, most stubborn skin on my upper arms and calves! I can never seem to smooth them out... I've tried regular scrubbing with a kind of stiff brush, which didn't do anything. Then I got this body wash that has ground-up pumice stone in it, which actually kind of hurts to put on but seemed to improve my skin a little. Still, though, they're not smooth! Is there anything else I can do??What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
heres a good rountine to follow:

-use a moisturizing body wash on your legs.

-mix a brown sugar(exfoliates) with honey (which keeps in moisture). rub and massage onto your legs.

-use a loofah to scrub it away, rinse away.

-dry, and put an intense moisturizing on.

-also, you can try an apricot scrub that is designed for the face. it also works on your body and feet too, to i would use it.

wishing you great skin!!What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
Thats a great answer from sam_sam_bubbles. Another great combination is take some ';epson salt, and mix with water'; to create a soothing paste. Wet the area with warm water that you want to exfoliate (a spray bottle works well)

Rub the paste in circular massaging motions on the affected area. Let dry completely. Rince off.....and add pure baby oil or a daily or nightly moisturizer. (not a lotion...moisturizers are richer)

You can also purchase some exfoliating masks that will work down deeper below the surface layer of skin and kill off any dead skin cells. I prefer Victoria Principals ';reclaim enzyme mask and peel'; or her ';advanced gentle enzyme treatment';.

They both require using 1 x per week. If no irriation though , use it every other evening and in time reduce to once per week. Leave on the areas for 20 mins......rince off and apply your normal daily or nightly moisturizer.

    Nice and Smooth!
You can exfoliate with a simple combination of white or brown sugar (I prefer white because the brown smells too strong.) mix with enough oil (baby oil, mineral oil, sesame oil, any kind really) to cover over the level of the sugar. Stir to mix the oil throughout the sugar so it becomes a paste. You can add scents if you like (few drops of your favorite perfume or an extract). Standing in the shower, get really wet then take a small handful and GENTLY scrub yourself. Keep getting more scrub in your hand as you go. Then rinse well. You will not BELIEVE how smooth and fresh you skin will feel. You can buy pre-made sugar and salt (drying) scrubs but they are usually pricey and don't ';do'; it any better than homemade.
a loofa. which are like a dollar or two at almost any store. also by exoliating body wash with the little beads in it and put some on the loofa and scrub your body. it doesnt hurt and it makes your body softer after just the first time.

Im going to try and exfoliate my skin at home. Any advice?

Im planning on using just a toothbrush and baby shampoo on my face. Will that work well? Then i moisturize afterwards right?

I don't want to buy anything and i don't want to have to use any sort of mask...im a guy

thanks!Im going to try and exfoliate my skin at home. Any advice?
You can mix sugar with a mild soap or body wash and gently wash your face using circular motions and light pressure. The sugar granules will exfoliate nicely and you don't have to smell girly. Do moisturize after. Don't use a moisturizer that is to greasy because you don't want to clog your pores and cause acne bumps. I wouldn't use a toothbrush because the pressure would be uneven and the rough bristles may damage your skin.Im going to try and exfoliate my skin at home. Any advice?
    * Wash your face twice a day (thrice at most) with gentle and unperfumed cleanser. Avoid using soaps as they contain harsh chemicals and ingredients that can damage your skin.

    * Avoid touching your face. Stop putting your hands by your face! I am often guilty of this resting my hand on the side of my head while reading. Also rubbing or bracing your chin is another common problem when thinking. Avoid rubbing, touching, or itching your skin with your hands. Your hands contain a lot of bacteria that can cause acne flare-ups. It is probably one of the most difficult things to avoid since much of the hand to face contact throughout the day we are unconscious of. Make it a habit to avoid hand contact and be conscious of it during the day to avoid bacteria.

    * Avoid the temptation to pick, prick and squeeze your acne. This will send the infection deeper into the skin and can cause severe scarring.

    * For mild to moderate acne, you can use over- the- counter topical ointments, solutions, lotions or gels that contain salicylic acid or azelaic acid as an alternative to benzoyl peroxide. Resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur help break down blackheads and whiteheads. Salicylic acid also helps cut down the shedding of cells lining the follicles of the oil glands.

    * Topical antibiotic solutions and lotions can also be applied.

    * Tea tree oil is a natural antibiotic and antibacterial agent and has a drying effect on the skin. It keeps the P. Acnes bacteria at bay along with decreasing facial oiliness, which makes this oil a worthwhile investment.

    * Sulfur helps to heal existing blemishes by unblocking pores.

    * Alpha or Beta Hydroxy Acids (AHA or BHA) works by keeping the skin exfoliated. Glycolic acid, the most well-known of the bunch is a useful adjuvant therapy for mild acne. Mandelic acid, a lesser known one, but one that combines the keratolytic properties of glycolic acid with natural antibacterial properties that help reduce the presence of P. acnes, may be considered a more effective alpha hydroxy acid in treating acne lesions. It is also much less irritating than glycolic acid, a factor that may be very important to those with sensitive skin who are unable to use other agents such as Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, or salicylic acid. It is effective in treating mild cases of acne on its own, and can be used successfully with other therapies on moderate acne.

These treatments are usually effective for mild to moderate acne problems only.

try this... this is a question someone asked on yahoo answers several months ago... i guess u could try it

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

What do you use to exfoliate your face?

Just wondering what you guys like the most to exfoliate and scrub your face. I need some suggestions because I heard that exfoliating your face could shrink your pores, or at least make them less noticeable. What do you like to use? What do you use to exfoliate your face?
    some i really like are:

Apply baking soda on wet face using circular motions and you鈥檒l be amazed how soft your skin is going to be afterwards!

Make a mixture of 1 tsp brown sugar and 2 mashed strawberries. Brown sugar will remove dead cells and strawberries are going to make your skin baby-soft.

1 tsp olive oil and 1/2 tsp sea salt applied gently to a wet face will not only remove dead cells, but it will also improve micro-circulation. Olive oil is going to nourish the skin, leaving it incredibly soft.

Mix 1 tablespoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and 2 tsp ground almonds. Rub gently onto face. Rinse off with warm water.

Mash a piece of papaya, then add 1/2 tsp brown sugar and rub your face with it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse well. Your skin will be fresh and glowing .

    also try steaming your face

Steaming the face is the best way to thoroughly deep clean your pores, to get rid of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Steaming your face is very important to loosen debris that may be embedded into the skin. When steaming the face your wide the clogged pores and soften the skin in order to cleanse more easily the impurities, the traces of makeup, the dust, the sebaceous secretions as well as the dead skin cells. The high temperature helps the pores do open and this way your body will clear of the toxins and the cosmetic products will reach every skin cell. After steaming it will be more easily for you to remove the comedones /blackheads, whiteheads/ and the little pimples.

If your skin is oily you can use thyme, peppermint or lemon. For sensitive use chamomile or lime. Those with normal skin can use rose, rosemary or lavender.

Boil a pan of water and after few minutes remove the pan from the stove. Add fresh herbs to create a fresh scent such as mint, chamomile and rosemary. Stand directly over the steam and drape a small towel over your head for keeping the steam from escaping because it will be more effective in opening the clogged pores. Stay 10/ 15 minutes until the steam disappears and rinse the face with lukewarm water. You can steam your face twice a week without worries 鈥?it won鈥檛 harm your skin

hope you likeWhat do you use to exfoliate your face?
Most exfoliators you should only use once a week.

But I use neutrogena daily exfoliating scrub, cause I have awfully dry and rather flakey skin, but my skin is also oily, so I can't go overboard on the moisturisers.

Anyway, the neutrogena is really quite good, you don't have to use it every day. And they do more... vigorous scrubs too, if you just want to use one once a week. And its not stupidly expensive either.
As someone who has used pretty much every exfoliation product on the market (no joke), I can tell you hands down the best exfoliation product you want to use is an at home microdermabrasion kit.

I personally use the Olay Regenerist one (link below) it's a little bit pricey-- $25 for the kit, however it lasts a really long time. I've had it for two months and have used it only 5 times and my skin is the best its ever looked.

I used to have large pores, clogged pores, lots of blackheads and generally bad skin if you looked at it closely. Now, my pores are virtually invisible, pores are clear, blackheads gone, any hyperpigmentation I had is GONE.

This stuff is made from God. Seriously.

I use this exfoliation about once every two weeks. That's really all you need or your face is going to get dried out and irritated.

I also use another Olay product, it's a face serum which stimulates cell growth on your face to allow the new stuff to come to the surface and to help get rid of the dead old cells. I use it every AM and PM. This stuff is pricey too ($25) and the bottle looks small, but trust me i've also had this for months and use it twice a day, 2 squirts at a time and its still not gone.
My wife use papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream. These products made my wife鈥檚 skin even tone and smooth as if 10 yrs ago (we're both 44). These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too. Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'
I like Clean%26amp;Clear exfoliating face scrub. It works great! It's got little micro beads in it that pop and moisturize your skin and clean it.
I use St. Ives apricot scrub twice a week and it works great.

How often do I exfoliate my fake tan?

I gave myself a fake bottle tan yesterday, and it came out very nicely; I exfoliated, didn't shave, and used moisturizer first. Now it looks great. I understand I should do it again in 3 days, correct? I'm really pale, so the fake tan is fairly light, and I don't want it to get too dark.

However, for how long can I keep this up before I need to exfoliate again? Should I exfoliate the tan off and start from scratch, or just apply the new coat on top of this fading one? Any tips? I'm so new at this, and I was so proud that it came out nicely once. Thanks!!!!!How often do I exfoliate my fake tan?
You want to exfoliate regularly b/c you shed skin more often on some places of your body than others. So basically, you will build a tan on some parts of your body that is darker than other parts of your body. If you do not do it regularly, eventually your 'tan'; will become patchy. How often do I exfoliate my fake tan?
    you should exfoliate every week
keep doing what you have been obviously it is just perfect

YOu are scrapping your skin and removing layers which causes spotting on the face. You need to try using a mild cleanser if you have makeup and warm water is fine if you have no makeup because you are only removing the oils which is not all that bad for your skin.Is it bad to exfoliate my face everyday?
Well it will be bad once you notice things on your face. Too much exfoliation can cause the skin to dry...which is never good. I exfoliate 3 times in a week...I would do it more often but I really dont want dry skin thats bad really really bad...but yeh dont exfoliate more than 2-3 times per week...
Yes, leave your skin alone !! I never exfoliate, never use soap just moisturiser in a morning and wash everything in the shower every day or 2. Your skin needs balances, we dont need to keep scrubbing it.
Yes. Try every 3 days, and exfoliate at night. The sun can make the whole exfoliation process worse. Also, try not to exfoliate any acne, it will make breakouts worse.
Yes only do it every 3rd day and use a face wash in between and then moisturise xx
Yes. Do it like twice a weak. You will wear your skin down, and you dont want to do that
    yes bbz it is.

Your skin becomes immune to it.

Always follow with a moisture serum like..

PS target makes the same exact thing generic for $12 but, it's not on the websiteIs it ok to exfoliate my skin once a week?
It mainly depends on your skin type. If you have dry skin you might want to do it only once a month. If it's normal you can get go ahead and do it once a week. I do at least once a week myself (but I'm much older than you). Especially now that summer is coming.

But you are the only one that can decide. If your face feels greasy, then go ahead. If it starts feeling too dry after you do, then you might want to not do it as often.
Totally! You should definitely be exfoliating once a week. It will keep your skin glowing and smooth. I think that it is so cool that you make your own scrub. But just keep in mind not to scrub your face too hard. If you just avoid that, I don't think that you should run into any problems. Hope this helps. :)
    yes.
    no your good lol

Is it okay to exfoliate 2-3 times a week on my forehead for my acne scars?

It really depends on the type of skin you have and what is causing your acne breakouts. There are a dozen treatments that promise the world but are really disappointing. Your best bet is to ask your dermatologist as they will know more about your specific condition.

It's like they get darker or something. I can see all of them so clearly, and it looks like there is more than before. Why is this? I know exfoliating makes skin lighter or something because it cleans off dead skin cells, but wouldn't that make the freckles lighter, too?

I don't really care, I like my freckles so it's fine...

But I am just wondering... (:How come I can see my freckles clearer after I exfoliate?
actually dead skin, or dirt is probably just covering up the differnce of color between your skin color and freckles. when you clean it all out your skin is lighter, and maybe your freckle-part skin is just heathier, making i darker

I use St. Ives Apricott scrub every day. Is this bad? No itchey, irritated skin has occoured but i love it sooo muchh! Is it bad to use a facial scrub everyday? In other words is it bad to exfoliate daily?
exfoliation should not be done everyday, but once or twice per week. i suggest you use a normal cleanser/gel cleanser/cream cleanser the rest of the days and the scrub for two other days.

st.ives apricot radiance cream cleanser is very nice :))Is it bad to use a facial scrub everyday? In other words is it bad to exfoliate daily?
Don't scrub everyday. Your skin will become thinner! Use it once a week or twice a week if your pores clog easily. My face is a very good example of thinning due to scrubbing everyday in my younger days. Now my capillaries have become more visible. Use the scub sparingly and massage lightly on your face.
I also use St. Ives Apricot scrub but only once or twice a week. Actually using a wash cloth will exfoliate your skin enough so you won't have to use a scrub unless you want. The wash cloth isn't that abrasive and yes you can exfoliate too much. Just like people who have oily skin can wash their face too much. So, I would reccommend using the scrub once a week, Cetaphil cleanser daily, Witch Hazel for a toner and always a facial moisturizer.
if your skin is irritated try moisturizing your face after you scrub to see if that helps other wise you may have to go to every other day.
I wouldn't use it daily. When you exfoliate, you are removing old dead skin and exposing new skin. Daily use is harsh on the new skin you've exposed.
It depends on the harshness of the exfoliant, and the sentivity of your skin.

I use Proactiv and I exfoliate daily, because the cleanser has exfoliators in it.
It's actually good for you. Exfoliation gets rid of dead skin cells.
You should use a daily lotion like beta hydroxy acid and only use a gentle scrub 3-4 times a week. Some of the scrubs like the one you are using have ground up nut shells and they can scratch your skin. If you use a hydroxy lotion it will exfoliate from with in and help new cells form so when you do scrub it will remove the dead cells. The lotion will also bring white heads and black heads to the surface.
The bottles say 1-2 times a week. I do it everyday, lol. So if it's bad for you, we're in it together!
No, it's actually good to exfoliate/wash daily. It unclogs your pours and gets rid of excess oil. If you don't wash daily your chances for acne greatly improves.
unless you have extremely oily skin about once a month is all you need otherwise you will deplete your face of all the natural oils that it needs and other defenses that it would naturally build up.
no, i use the same scrub as you
I think you should be gentle with your face. Try facial cleanser like Cetaphil. You can get store brand at a cheaper price in many drugstores. It is a non-soap cleanser. Follow directions. Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated. I think it is a bad idea to scrub your face. It is not a frying pan.
I agree with this is the bomb ... Once or twice a week and do the wash every day

How do I exfoliate without making my skin so red?

First off Id like to say that Im a guy.....Its just about that time when i need to exfoliate, I use some swiss apricot cream....and then a blackhead scrub afterwards. I do this every like 3-4 days. How can I reduce the redness that I get after exfoliating my skin. I usually do it at night time to give it time to relax. Another question, what can i do prior to exfoliating to really open up my pores? Any help would......well help! haha thanks guys. or girls... =DHow do I exfoliate without making my skin so red?
try using a different product, I use the exfoiliation from bee-luscious cosmetcis and the hydrating cream concentrate and my face is so soft and never red. Also you can use a little steram from just the shower then follow the routine thats what I do when I come home from work. you can view it on beeroyalproducts.com good luckHow do I exfoliate without making my skin so red?
An SOS pad is not intended for exfoliating, at least not on the face.
Don't exfoliate every day, do it every few days or something like that. Be more gentle when you scrub, and don't scrub for long periods of time! You can take a shower or put a warm washcloth over your face to open up your pores. Goodluck!
exoliate every 11 days, dis is how often our skin is renewed, moisturise each night and make sure your using the right exfoliator for your skin, and also make sure u arnt scrubbing too hard that cud def cause redness! or you might be allergic to one of the creams?
I agree that the apricot scrub is too harsh. It's gotten to where I'm afraid of anything that's sold at the 'marts!

I've recently started on the ';Philosophy'; cleaners, etc. with great results %26amp; the microderm abrasion they have is super gentle. Yes, it's an investment, but worth it.

    My face looks so much clearer %26amp; brighter that my husband started using them too. He's an actor and ';in the spotlight.';

    Good luck.
To exfoliate i suggest: Artistry庐 Polishing Scrub

Skin feels soft and perfectly polished with this effective exfoliator. The light foaming scrub with jojoba beads gently sloughs off dead skin cells, and accelerates your natural exfoliating process

To open up you pores use the Artistry庐 Pore Cleansing Masque before the scrub. It thoroughly cleanses and refreshes your skin with this oil-free mineral clay masque. It opens pores and draws out excess oil to help control oil and shine.

Use the scrub and masque 1-2 time per week. For daily maintenance use Tolsom鈩?Skin Care for Men, proven to improve skin smoothness, fine lines, and clarity. Tolsom is the only men鈥檚 skin care line with the exclusive T-10 Complex that delivers high performance results in 4 weeks.
Well, first of all... you really only need to exfoliate 1-2 times a week. you can't really reduce the redness so just do it before you go to sleep so that the redness is gone by morning. To open up your pores, get a really warm washcloth and lay it on your face for a few moments. Warm water expands your pores and cold water closes them. It also helps to wash your face with cold water when you are finished exfoliating to close your pores so that it is harder for them to get clogged!

    Hope this helps!
Try Olay Regnerist scrub. It is more gentle than that apricot scrub, but REALLY effective. Tinier scrubbers smooth your face so much better than that grainy apricot stuff. I know, I used to do it. It heats up too. Very nice. I use it and love it so much. I am alot less red than I used to get. Good luck!

First off, the apricot scrub is horrible! I have sensitive skin and it seems you do too. That stuff ALWAYS turns me red. It is too harsh for your skin. You should only exfoliate once a week or every two weeks. I work at a day spa and we use a salt scrub and a sugar scrub. The sugar scrub would be really good for you. It is not as harsh on your skin and it does not take out all the moisture in your skin, like a salt scrub does. Then when you are done with the scrub put a algie oil on your skin. Really, you should go to a day spa near your home twice a month and get a sugar scrub, they will also have the products there you can buy so you know you are using the right thing
I second -stop using the apricot scrub. It's just too harsh and your skin probably thinks so too! Try using a cream wash instead of a foaming one and put some baking soda in your hand. It won't turn your face as red and it's really gentle.

What is the best product to use to exfoliate your skin, particularly your face?

Like the others said - St. Ives Apricot Scrub is excellent - also their Hydroxy Mask. For an even less expensive scrub which will leave your face and hands smooth and glowing, try mixing a spoonful of sugar in your cleansing lotion. Works great. What is the best product to use to exfoliate your skin, particularly your face?
I use St. Ives Apricot Daily Scrub...it's really good and makes my face feel baby softWhat is the best product to use to exfoliate your skin, particularly your face?
I really like the St. Ives line of exfoliating products...They are cheap you can get them at any drug store and they work great!
St. Ives has a bunch of real good exfoliating face washes
I wouldn't recommend Apricot Scrubs. Often times the exfoliating spheres are jagged in cheaper products and tend to cause microscopic tears in the skin. If you are looking for inexpensive but good for your skin I'd try Clinique.

How long before a spray tan should I exfoliate and how frequent shall I moisturise after?

just the day before you should exfoloate and dont go swimming for 3 days after.. in chlorine it screws it up. dont get too high of a level and moisturize after showering and one other time in the day..How long before a spray tan should I exfoliate and how frequent shall I moisturise after?
    Heres what I do

2pm - shower %26amp; scrub away best as possible dead skin %26amp; shave my legs

    4pm- spray tan

10pm- tan starts to show up

    11pm- moisturize

    5pm (next day)- shower again

  • How to exfoliate skin without using abrasive products?

My dermatologist told me that while the beauty industry makes tons of money on selling all kinds of exfoliating product, they are very abrasive to the skin and should not be used. She even told me that a simple face wash that has tiny ';scrubbing beads'; is bad for the face because those beads make tiny scratches on the skin, and ultimately this results in bad skin and even an early onset of wrinkles. This woman has many credentials and since she wasn't trying to sell me anything, but just giving advice, I trust her. This leads to a dilemma though, because I want to remove the dead skin cells on my face so that moisturizers and makeup is better absorbed by my skin, but I don't want to use abrasive products to exfoliate my skin, so what are my options? How to exfoliate skin without using abrasive products?
That is correct. You can still exfoliate but its all about how you do it.

You can either get a scrub that had micropolyurethane balls (tiny plastic balls) these will perfectly and gently glide over the skin. They are completely spherical and will cause no damage whatsoever.

You could also use a AHA (alpla hydroxy acid) product to checmically munch away at the dead skin cells. I prefer natural products. Fruit aha's will have a renewing ability but will cause no harm to the skin as long as it is chemical free.

Speak to a beauty therapist or 4. Get many opinions and get them all to do skin anylysis on you.

Do not go into a department store. These people are salesmen and are there to make a sale. Not to mention that they are not completely trained in the anatomry and physiology of the skin.

How many times do i have to exfoliate?

I just bought lofa soap. and my skin is feelin smoother and less dryer

and now im using aveeno after

wat now?How many times do i have to exfoliate?
You sound like you're doing a good job. Don't overdo it. You should probably just exfoliate once a day and use the aveeno twice a day. If your skin gets irritated, cut back. How many times do i have to exfoliate?
You should just exfloliate 3 times a week, but if you have an oily or acne prone skin, exfoliate 5 times a week to get rid of excess oil and dead skin cells. If you experience a dry or red skin after 2 weeks of treatment, it means that you have overdone it, If so, apply a moisturizer and reduce the frequency of use.
usually you exfoliate 2-3 times a week. at least that's what my stuff says to do.

type into google - home remidies face scrub.. and it will come up with a whole list of sites that will teach you how to make home made scrubs.. i personally st Ives apricot scrub is excellent.. for your face.... it is the best ever...

you can use oatmeal its good for your skin.. ground some up add some raw sugar and honey.. raw sugar for the scrub and honey for a silky smooth feeling.. its really good.... you can add some ginger flakes in there or some lemon ( apparently lemon lightens your skin). i love it i make it myself and use it in the shower... its excellent.. good luck....Whats a good way to exfoliate your skin?
    lemons
mix a small amount of baking soda with your cleanser (1/4 teaspoon or so) and apply like a regular exfoliator. don't rub to hard. your skin will feel baby soft.
increase consuming Vitamin 'E' in ur Diet
Facial scrub: Oatmeal and Sugar....seriously...this is the BEST scrub i have ever had....just take oatmeal and grind it into a powder and the add Sugar( more Sugar if you want more of a scrub...less if you just want something soothing) then add a little water and make like a paste( not too thick and not too thin) Rub on your face for like 3 minutes then rinse with warm water...put moisturizer on right afterward and your face will feel so refreshed and soft!!!!! Do it about once a week. Dont rub too hard or you will damage face. The oatmeal is for sootheing for face of redness and dry skin. The sugar is for exfoliation.

How do you properly exfoliate? with dry or wet skin? and what are the best things to use ?

things to ex foliate and how?How do you properly exfoliate? with dry or wet skin? and what are the best things to use ?
exfoliate after you've showered so that its when ure skin is soft

and i use an exfoliating glove (u can get these easily) and it works rgreat

hope this helps! How do you properly exfoliate? with dry or wet skin? and what are the best things to use ?
    Wet skin, definitely.

The easiest and cheapest way is to have a nice warm shower, let your skin get wet and warm and soft, and take a washcloth (a nice, thick, towelly one) and gently rub your face or wherever else you'd like to exfoliate. It really makes a difference. Don't be too rough or over do it though, your skin won't be happy.
when i shower i mix sugar in with my body wash and use that, if u rinse ur skin good it doesnt get sticky and it really makes ur skin shine. u can mix it in the shower with lotion too, but becareful because the tub will get slippery.some ppl say to use salt, but salt dries the skin.
i use a clarisonic brush to exfoliate with a good cleanser

  • Are you meant to exfoliate on wet or dry skin?

Always exfoliate with wet skin. A really good product to use is Botanics In shower facial polish by Boots. It works great and doesn't break the bank, because you can find it at any drugstore. (I get mine at Target). Just get in the shower and wet your face with warm water, them rub on the product in circular motions on your face. Don' scrub too hard or your face will become REALLY red and will hurt really bad. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week for best results. Hope this helps! Are you meant to exfoliate on wet or dry skin?
wet or it would not work and using wet skin some how gets the particles deeper into your skin. Are you meant to exfoliate on wet or dry skin?
Either but most exfolliators are designed for wet skin as, your skin is softer whilst wet
Wet, when its dry I will most likely be too harsh on your skin and make you break out even more.
depends (i think) in the shower use a rough sponge to take of normal dry skin but if its on your heels etc thats dry!

my opinion im not sure :) hope it helps x
wash your face with warm water and apply the exfoliate

never on dry or you'll get this red rash on your face
    Damp skin Then exfoliate.
    WET!!!
Always on wet skin... depends of the brand

    bye =)
    surely wet

Is it best to exfoliate ready for applying fake tan before or after shaving your legs?

Going out tonight and this has never occured to me before! Is there a certain way you should do it?Is it best to exfoliate ready for applying fake tan before or after shaving your legs?
I always shave, as this removes some dead skin.

I then tend to use a good exfoliator like Body Shop Strawberry Scrub, I then rinse and use a body brush to rub in a wash like Body Shop Satsuma Lotion and then I rinse this off and apply moisturiser to the dry bits - knees, elbows etc! And then I apply my fake tan which is Fake Bake.

I have never had streaks this way or dodgy orange bits!

Good Luck :)Is it best to exfoliate ready for applying fake tan before or after shaving your legs?
They usually say. THE DAY BEFORE, shave, exfoliate and moisturise dry patches. Shaving takes off layers of skin so I'd do it first then exfoliate.
i would shave then exfoliate in case the razor roughs up the skin a little-all the fake tans i have used recommended to use them the day after shaving as shaving opens the hair follicle and you will end up with 'spotty' legs.
This yahoo answer may be adapted for your needs! Obviously do this well in advance of going out and instead of your face...use it on your legs.....this clears the skin...make sure you concentrate on the knee's and any rough hard skin on your feet......this will turn orange or brown if you haven't.Then simply follow the manufacturers instructions. Oh and it is no difference whether you exfoliate before or after you shave.
I would exfoliate before [just gently though] i usually exfoliate my whole body , face at least 3 times a week, i love the clean feeling and how soft your skin feels. Good luck make sure you don't get the orange look:)))
    After, always after
omg dont shave your legs are you stupid or what?!!?
If I understand your question right you should

    1. shave your legs first

    2. exfoliate

    3. then fake tan

if you shave your legs first it just means you're starting on a fresh pallet, if you use shaving gel or a razor with a moisturising aloe strip (or something of the sorts) it will leave a residue that you don't want when you apply the tan so you use the exfoliate to clear out the pours and to clean off of residue and dead skin cells.

Make sure you put the tan on way in advance, and remember it usually takes a while to develop.

    Hopes this helps!
DONT shave before a fake tan like immediatly before as the fake tan goes into the pores of your legs and it looks well kind of spotted. Shave the day before, exfoliate in the shower immedietly before and then apply the fake tan.
I always exfoliate before shaving legs
You should always exfoliate prior to shaving - you get a better shave, even.
If you wax do it the day before, only because your skin will be more sensitive and react to the tanning products. I usually shave, exfoliate, wait and hour then apply the tan lotion, i have sensitive skin and this way is fine for me.

Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?

I have pores on my face that are very visible, and I heard that exfoliating your face would help to minimize the pores.

But I've tried the Oxy exfoliating cleanser before, and apparently it caused a tremendous redness on my face and made it very itchy.

So I'm just wondering, what can I do about these enlargened pores? Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?
yep, its perfectly fine. just remember that the size of the exfoliating beads should be relative to the size of your pores. so small pores need a very fine scrub, and people with large pores need a scrub with larger scrubbing beads. Is it okay to exfoliate your face with visible enlargened pores?
Hi there, i also have slightly large pores and have been doing some searching. If you go onto the neutrogena website they have a product there for large pores. Its quite informative. I must be honest with you, i have not tried it yet i'm waiting for my facewash that i have now to finish first as it is not very cheap. I'm sure there are lots of other products that you will be able to find that help reduce large pores.

    Good Luck!

If you do give it a try or have already found something please let me know the results
Yes you can but you should only do it 1-3 times per week. You might have very sensitive skin so check to see which products out there can help. Also always be sure to moisturize it is one of the most important steps that you must never forget
    Yes it's ok.

Exfoliation will make your face red and irritated for awhile. It's best to do it at night before you go to bed.
Yes you can, so as long as its not bleeding
Use a mud mask ';DO Not'; exfolliate!!!!!!!!!!

Is it okay to exfoliate (gently) on same day I had IPL treatment?

I just did IPL treatment on my two small beauty marks on face today. One is a little puffed up. Can I exfoliate on them? He said I should exfoliate 3x a week gently but I forgot to ask if I can today. Is it okay to exfoliate (gently) on same day I had IPL treatment?
I believe you'd better not, may cause severe irritation to your skin, be patient for a one more day...

tell me, which is better? IPL or laser hair removal?

i really need ur answer for im about to go for laser. Is it okay to exfoliate (gently) on same day I had IPL treatment?
Wait a day or two to allow it to calm. If you exfoliate right away, then it can irritate the skin, causing a longer healing period and (in rare cases) scarring. Moisturise today, wash tomorrow, and exfoliate the next day. :)
No, you need to wait several days until your face heals after IPL.

Is it bad to exfoliate your skin twice a week?

What are the dangers associated with facial scrubs? Is it bad to exfoliate your skin twice a week?
Once is enough really as it takes a week for the new layer of skin to grow back, so doing it to often will leave you with a sore face, and even a red one, i only do mine once its pointless scrubbing it again before the weeks up, if theres nothing there! Is it bad to exfoliate your skin twice a week?
Nope its ok! The only danger with facial scrubs is that if you use it too much you can take off layers of your skins natural oils..which can result in break outs. So make sure your using a GENTLE and specific facial scrub - try the nivea one its pretty good.
Twice a week is perfect. You should exfoliate about every 3 or 4 days. If you do it too often, your skin will just get red and irritated.
    it's fine.

but i only exfoliate once a week because

    my skin is sorta sensitive
is very bad because to much can lead to broken capillaries and your skin would age soon.
    what does exfolate mean?
    that's fine

How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?

I encountered that term and im not familiar with it. I also heard it has good benefits. So I wonder why not try it, so for any of you who have done these please tell me how.

I really appreciate a step by step procedure. Thanks !!!How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?
Buy an exfoliator in the beauty aisle. Aveenos makes a daily scrub that is really lovely.

If you need a deep exfoliation, try Philosophy's 'The Great Mystery'. It will make your skin feel like baby skin in 2 minutes - I use it once a week and my face is super smoothe! How do you exfoliate your face? I have no idea and never tried it before?
All it is is using a scrub--make sure it is for the face. Or you can just use a cheap washcloth with lots of soap and hot water and scrub away at your face--not too hard tho--specially around the eyes, a delicate area. Prolly the easiest way is to wash your face, dry, apply a clay facial mask, leave on for about 10 minutes and then remove with a lukewarm washcloth. The reason to exfoliate is to remove the dead skin cells that accumulate on top of your skin. This lets the bright and shiny new skin cells show!! Mary Kay has good facial masks. St. Ives has Apricot facial scrub. DHC has a good facial brush if you like feeling really clean! If you have dry skin be sure to moisturize after! Get ready to glow!!
buy an exfoliating cleanser? or some facial scrub. i'd recommend St Ive's Apricot Scrub. it's one of the best i've used.
    hi

I would advice you to try some home based remedies for skin ,hair and weight problems, this link has some good information it sure did help me so here goes,

    http://tinyurl.com/m6kcr

    good luck
Buy and exfoliating cleanser you can get them everywhere
Go to the general dealer or drug store and get yourself a fresh facial scrub or exfoliator, its a kind of face wash or cream that contains tiny beads that srub all your old skin cells off so that you get rid of the dead skin layer on your face , it improves the funtion of the skin tissue and the look,

Exfoliators arent only for the face you get specified ones for your entire body too.
You need a product called a ';buff puff';. It is an abrasive cleaner for your face. You just wet it and apply soap and wash your face with it. Godloveya.

I'm almost 23, and have some pimple blemishes that I want to remove. I still get the occassional pimple though, and some bumps here and there. My skin is combination. How often should I exfoliate with my Vitamin C scrub?
Hi there. I wouldn't use a scrub more than 3 times a week.

For pimples concentrate on cleansing and toning without scrub the rest of the time, Always remove make up. Drink plenty of water. Make sure your diet is not too fatty, get ';good'; oils from fish, nuts and seeds, taking codliver oil and eating raw nuts and seeds has really transformed my skin. Plenty of fruit and veg.

Two things that are great for blemishes, aloe vera gel and green tea, drink and apply it topically, really good stuff.

Good luck.My skin is combination. How often should I exfoliate with my Vitamin C scrub?
Hi.it is advisable to use scrub once a week only as the scrub opens the pores. After using a scrub, make sure that you close the pores either by splashing cold water or rubbing an ice cube.

But to make your skin better, you should go for a daily routine of Cleansing, Toning and moisturizing the skin 2-3 times a day with good products.Make sure that the toner is used only where you have oily skin as it reduces the oiliness of the skin. Also to remove the blemishes, take a slice of tomato and rub it o your face until you are left with the peel.Leave it for 10 mins and wash off.Do this everyday and it will help by reducing oiliness as well as the scars, black/white heads, acne, pimples. Also go for a peppermint facial every month as it is the best for combo skin.Drink loads of water...

    Hope this helps!!!!!
Every other day?? If it says twice a week then every couple of days is fine :)

i want to exfoliate my skin becasue it gets rid of dead skin cellls and i hear it gets rid of blackheads, and i have alot of black heads. i dont have any exfoliating products from the store or anything but i hear you can make exfoliating recipes with using salt, sugar lemon juice, etc....and if you do how do you make it? give me step by step because im a slow learner. What does exfoliate the skin mean? and how do you do it?
You can also use honey and sugar. Pour a decent size dollop of honey in a bowl and but sugar on top of it (brown or white) and mix it until it is kind of pasty but more on the wet side.if the mix is off just add more of whichever you need. You can't mess this up. Then just start rubbing in small circles all around your face. Don't go too hard. You can damage the skin if you get too rough. Spend a few minutes massaging your face then rinse off with lukewarm water. Pat it dry and then moisturize. Instantly gorgeous! What does exfoliate the skin mean? and how do you do it?
A girl I went to high school with had the most beautiful skin. All she used was the yellow box of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda.

She dumped some in her washcloth and scrubbed her face with it.

After scrubbing her face, she would use any complection soap like Camay, Oil of Olay.

  • What can I use to exfoliate my face?

I use a face wash but I still feel like my face isn't really clean. Almost like I can feel a little bumpy layer of dead skin cells. Gross, I know! Any tips? What can I use to exfoliate my face?
The best exfoliant, and the one with scientific research to support it, is alpha hydroxy acids. These are also known as fruit acids or AHAs. AHAs are wonderful because they are cheap, easy to use, and most importantly, they actually work.

Skincare experts (as opposed to marketing executives) generally acknowledge there are only a couple of truely effective skin care products - retinol creams you get by prescription from a doctor or alpha hydroxy acids.

AHAs can be glycolic acid, lactic acid, or fruit acids. In nature they are derived from plants or from milk. However, the cosmetic industry usually uses synthetic AHAs. The secret to their power is that they are useful exfoliants - they break down the top layer of the skin and reveal brighter and more youthful looking skin underneath.

There are no worrying side effects from alpha hydroxy acid lotions. Remember though, the reason AHAs make your skin look glowing and youthful is because they slough off the top surface layer of the skin. This top layer does provide a little bit of sun protection so after exfoliating with AHAs your skin will be more sensitive to the sun. You can easily avoid this increased risk of sun damage by wearing suncreen - something you should always do anyway.

The research shows that to be an effective wrinkle remover cream, the AHA concentration must be between 5% and 10%. Closer to 10% is better. Tt is also suggested you look for a pH between 3 and 4. It is an added bonus if the product also contains other beneficial ingrediants to support your skin and fight aging. For example, look for water-binding agents, antioxidants, and anti-irritants. You cannot get this balance by making products at home.

';Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion, Night'; has a pH of 3.3, and an AHA concentration of 8%. It has no irritating fragrance but plenty of vitamin-based antioxidants. At around $12, this is a great buy.

A great alpha hydroxy acid gel is ';Paula's Choice Exfoliating 8% AHA Gel'; It has 8% glycolic acid and a pH of 3.5-3.8. As it is a gel as opposed to a lotion it has a lovely silky feel and is easier to spread. Best of it all, it works! The price tag is $17.95, or $0.80 for a sample. What can I use to exfoliate my face?
I saw this in the movie the wedding planner and I have done it. It's been a while ago and I will have to find the clip again, but I think it's a combination of sea salt and lemon juice. I will find it and edit my answer to be sure. Sorry I tried to speed through it and I couldn't find the scene I was looking for but it's at a wedding and the bride has a really bad fake tan and she tells her to scrub, scrub, scrub.
Gram flour mixed with lemon juice, a tsp of curd,1 tsp honey, and a pinch of turmeric this would not only exfoliate gently adding sheer glow on ur face.

What to use to exfoliate/moisturize to avoid ingrown hairs?

I'm about to wax for the first time, what product (available in Canada, and in a store like walmart) should I use to exfoliate and to moisturize to avoid ingrown hairs? (only products you've used and were successful with, please!)What to use to exfoliate/moisturize to avoid ingrown hairs?
Uh well I use St. Ives apricot scrub. Not for your face though, it's the one for your body. It comes in like a HUGE jar, not like a bottle or anything like that. To moisturise, I just use Nivea Body Lotion. What to use to exfoliate/moisturize to avoid ingrown hairs?
