What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?

I have the roughest, most stubborn skin on my upper arms and calves! I can never seem to smooth them out... I've tried regular scrubbing with a kind of stiff brush, which didn't do anything. Then I got this body wash that has ground-up pumice stone in it, which actually kind of hurts to put on but seemed to improve my skin a little. Still, though, they're not smooth! Is there anything else I can do??What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
heres a good rountine to follow:

-use a moisturizing body wash on your legs.

-mix a brown sugar(exfoliates) with honey (which keeps in moisture). rub and massage onto your legs.

-use a loofah to scrub it away, rinse away.

-dry, and put an intense moisturizing on.

-also, you can try an apricot scrub that is designed for the face. it also works on your body and feet too, to i would use it.

wishing you great skin!!What's the best way to exfoliate my skin?
Thats a great answer from sam_sam_bubbles. Another great combination is take some ';epson salt, and mix with water'; to create a soothing paste. Wet the area with warm water that you want to exfoliate (a spray bottle works well)

Rub the paste in circular massaging motions on the affected area. Let dry completely. Rince off.....and add pure baby oil or a daily or nightly moisturizer. (not a lotion...moisturizers are richer)

You can also purchase some exfoliating masks that will work down deeper below the surface layer of skin and kill off any dead skin cells. I prefer Victoria Principals ';reclaim enzyme mask and peel'; or her ';advanced gentle enzyme treatment';.

They both require using 1 x per week. If no irriation though , use it every other evening and in time reduce to once per week. Leave on the areas for 20 mins......rince off and apply your normal daily or nightly moisturizer.

Nice and Smooth!
You can exfoliate with a simple combination of white or brown sugar (I prefer white because the brown smells too strong.) mix with enough oil (baby oil, mineral oil, sesame oil, any kind really) to cover over the level of the sugar. Stir to mix the oil throughout the sugar so it becomes a paste. You can add scents if you like (few drops of your favorite perfume or an extract). Standing in the shower, get really wet then take a small handful and GENTLY scrub yourself. Keep getting more scrub in your hand as you go. Then rinse well. You will not BELIEVE how smooth and fresh you skin will feel. You can buy pre-made sugar and salt (drying) scrubs but they are usually pricey and don't ';do'; it any better than homemade.
a loofa. which are like a dollar or two at almost any store. also by exoliating body wash with the little beads in it and put some on the loofa and scrub your body. it doesnt hurt and it makes your body softer after just the first time.
