Is it necessary to exfoliate your skin every time before applying tanning lotion?

today is the first time i use a tanning lotion, Neutrogena Build-a-Tan. so i wash up really well with a body soap that exfoliates..


but im wondering is it necessary to do that every time before you apply tanning lotion?


because im planning on applying it everyday before bed..


do i have to exfoliate or just use normal soap to wash up from now on?Is it necessary to exfoliate your skin every time before applying tanning lotion?
Exfoliate once a week to remove any extra dead skin. Do not over exfoliate or you will not keep a tan of any kind because you are rubbing off too many new skin cells. Let the lotion dry completely before going to bed or you will be splotchy. do not use bar soap either, it leaves a residue on your skin that will prevent the tanning lotion from getting deep into your skin!!
